11/2/19 Santa Anita All BC Late Pick Four - Preview

Just to be clear, this is the Pick Four that culminates with The Breeders' Cup Classic, the 12th and final race on Saturday's program in Southern California.  So with that settled let's just get to it, as I take another run at an all Breeders' Cup Pick Four at The Great Race Place.

RACE 9 - The Breeders' Cup Mile (Grade 1) - Eight Furlongs Turf

Got Stormy and Uni (GB), the two distaff runners taking on the boys, filled out two thirds of the Trifecta when they competed against the males at Saratoga this past August in the Grade 1 Fourstardave.  True Valour (Ire) could get a nice pressing trip from the five hole.  El Tormenta will try to prove that his big upset in the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile, when he got under the wire a half length in front of Got Stormy, was no fluke.

Circus Maximus (Ire) could be classiest here.  Bowies Hero could be the one running best late.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

Midnight Bisou, seven-for-seven in 2019, looks clear best here, and probably should be a single, and just how many times am I going to type that phrase this weekend?  But Blue Prize (Arg) looked good winning the Grade 1 Spinster this year; you know, just like she did last year, and, well, maybe this time Blue Prize can keep that momentum going.  So, yeah, two deep it is, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

Bricks and Mortar looks clear best here, etc., etc., etc., etc.  But Alounak (Fr) etc., etc., etc.  Yes, yet another leg where I should probably single but I'm not.  Two deep, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

While there probably won't be a major pace meltdown here, I think there is enough speed that Code of Honor, with his far outside draw, should have enough to run at in the late stages.  Yoshida (Jpn) will probably be the one running best late; but the concern with Yoshida is that he may be too far back for it to matter.

Elate is the female taking on the males; and she just might be good enough to get the job done.  McKinzie has disappointed as the Post Time Favorite four times in his last six starts; but there's just too much talent in this runner to leave him off the ticket.

Mongolian Groom will be trying to prove that his Win in the Grade 1 Awesome Again over this main track was no fluke; but the added distance does him no favors.  Vino Rosso probably won't be quickest here; but Vino Rosso should be forwardly placed, and if he can rate Saturday, he may have enough in the tank so that he can avoid doing the bump down the stretch in order to hang on to win.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.
