Race 8 - The San Carlos - # 6 Brickyard Ride (Final Odds 5.00) - "B" Selection
Race 9 - The Frank E Kilroe Mile - # 2 Hit the Road (4.20) - "A" Selection
Race 10 - The Santa Anita Handicap # 6 Idol (5.40) - "C" Selection
Race 11 - # 11 Defunded (8.70) - "B" Selection
Quite a few bad decisions went into my play Saturday. In retrospect, I should have stuck with my instincts and left Post Time Favorites # 1 Smooth Like Strait (2.80*) and # 2 Maxfield (1.10*) (in the Kilroe Mile and Big 'Cap, respectively) off my main ticket. I also should have know better than to use any debut runners in the night cap, as several experienced runners had previously shown good form by finishing in the money at the non-Claiming Maiden level.
Still, while correcting those errors would have reduced my losses, they would not have taken me to the pay window. That's because I just don't see myself finding # 6 Idol in Saturday's featured race, as three others in the field had finished ahead of Idol in Idol's two most recent starts entering Saturday's action (Express Train and Tizamagician last time out in the San Pasqual; and Kiss Today Goodbye in the San Antonio two starts back). And not having Idol on my main ticket is what made Saturday a day for me to contribute instead of collect.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of 6 / 2 / 6 / 11 were rewarded with a payout of $1,104.75 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
Peace and Love,
Jimbo
