Race 5 - # 1 Midnight Rising (Final Odds 10.48) - No Selection
Race 6 - # 5 Bali Belle (9.97) - "B+" Selection
Race 7 - # 10 Jubilee Bridge (10.41) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 2 Daring Do (0.48*) - "A" Selection
Positives regarding Thursday's play include getting my single home in the nightcap, # 2 Daring Do. I'll give myself bonus points for predicting that Daring Do would go to Post at odds no higher than 3-5.
Another positive was concluding that the middle two legs would be highly competitive affairs, and thus focusing on the higher priced runners for placement on my main ticket.
As to negatives, I had absolutely no part of the winner of the first leg of the sequence, first time starter Midnight Rising. Not even as a backup "C" or "C+" Selection. In retrospect, I still think that was the correct move.
Using Midnight Rising as a backup would not have saved the play from imploding; and finding a spot for Midnight Rising on the main ticket would probably had resulted in the removal of a runner or runners from the second and third legs, and one of those removed may have been an eventual winner Thursday. So rather than view this as one that got away (because the main ticket had three out of four), I'm going to consider this one as a sequence that just wasn't meant to be.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of 1 / 5 / 10 / 2 were rewarded with a payout of $2,030.35 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
Peace and Love,
Jimbo
