7/15/17 Sacramento Late Pick Four - Preview

Northern California thoroughbred horse racing moves to the state fair at Sacramento, where it will reside through the end of July.  Opening Day for the meet was Friday, which was when some fortunate individual scooped the jackpot Pick Six pool, walking away with $24,526.90 for their twenty cent wager.  That being the case, I'm going to opt for a lighter workload this weekend and set my sights a bit lower, moving away from the Pick Six as I allow time for the jackpot to build back up, and instead taking a run at The Late Pick Four at Sacramento.

RACE 5 - (F) Clm $8k N2L - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 3 Miss Show Stopper (Morning Line 5-2)
# 7 Singapore Tune (ML 5-1)

B’s

# 1 Padawon (ML 3-1)

C's

None

Miss Show Stopper graduated for $8k at Golden Gate Fields three starts back.  Miss Show Stopper was then rather ambitiously placed into an Alw 40000s N2L, followed by an Clm $16k.  Saturday's entry is a much more realistic placing for a runner of Miss Show Stopper's ability.  I expect Miss Show Stopper to set the pace in this contest, and be the one that the others will have to run down to win.

Singapore Tune is another getting some much needed class relief.  Padawon moves up in class after closing well against lesser company last time out.

RACE 6 - (F) Md $25k - Five Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 3 Lovley Spy (ML 3-1)
# 8 Almost Carla (ML 5-2)

B's

# 6 Reva Bella (ML 5-1)

C's

None

Lovley Spy showed good early speed against non-claiming maidens in her debut last time out.  Almost Carla took the Show against more expensive stock two starts back, albeit on the grass.  Almost Carla seems to have been working well for this, her first start of 2017, and Trainer Billy Morey tends to do well when bringing runners back from an extended vacation.  Reva Bella took the Show at this class level last time out.

RACE 7 - (F) Clm $10k N3L - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 6 Rebeccas in Charge (ML 2-1)

B’s

None

C's

# 2 Kaja (ML 6-1)
# 4 Who Said Lucky (ML 7-2)

Scratch # 3 Liana Skye (ML 3-1)

Rebeccas in Charge should benefit from the sharp class drop.  Rebeccas in Charge looks to be the one that will be running best late.

Kaja goes third off the layoff after being a pace presence in each of her prior 2017 starts.  Who Said Lucky won by daylight against N2L company last time out, and might be the quickest in this field.

RACE 8 - Md $5k - Five Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 3 Proudtobesicillian (ML 9-5)

B's

# 1 Swiss Empire (ML 5-1)
# 5 Reuben James (ML 8-1)
# 7 Awesome Run (ML 7-2)

C's

# 2 Toro John (ML 20-1)
# 4 Diablo Way (ML 12-1)
# 6 Irish Jack (ML 3-1)

Proudtobesicillian drops in class while returning to one turn racing.  Swiss Empire took the Show at this class level last time out.  Reuben James is a first time starter out of a dam that has produced five winners.  Awesome Run has proven to be competitive at this class level.

Toro John gets Lasix for the first time Saturday.  Diablo Way is on the ticket because everyone else is.   Irish Jack could move up with the class drop.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 3,7 with 3,8 with 6 with 3 $4.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,3,7 with 3,6,8 with 6 with 1,3,5,7 $18.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 3,7 with 3,8 with 2,4 with 3 $4.00
$0.50 P4: 3,7 with 3,8 with 6 with 2,4,6 $6.00

Total: $32.00

Post Time for Race 5 is 6:45 EDT / 3:45 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
