7/23/17 Sacramento Late Pick Four - Preview

Sticking with the final four at the California State Fair to close out the weekend, as I decided to give The Gold Rush Pick Six a little more time to grow.  So with that let's get to it, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at Sacramento.

RACE 5 - (F) Md $16k - Five Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 2 Chiefs Lil Pearl (Morning Line 2-1)
# 3 Hyphy (ML 5-2)
# 6 Oklahoma Red (ML 4-1)

B's

# 7 Love You Too (ML 8-1)

C's

# 4 Wynn Direction (ML 10-1)
# 5 One Smart Gal (ML 6-1)

Scratch # 1 Dayjur Bold (ML 12-1)

Note that, while this contest for juvenile fillies was carded for open company, all entrants are California bred.

Chiefs Lil Pearl is making his second career start for Trainer Billy Morey, who tends to do well with such.  Hyphy may be the quickest in the field.  Oklahoma Red is the only runner in this field to have ever finished in the Trifecta.

Love You Too is a first time starter who really hasn't looked all the special; but against the experienced runners in this field, she may not have to be.  The "C" Selections are the rest of the field, because this looks to be a pretty mediocre bunch, which means that anything can happen.

RACE 6 - (F) ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Dirt

A's

# 2 Time and Chance (ML 4-1)

B's

# 3 Amber Louise (ML 5-2)

C's

# 1 Papaclem'smidnight (ML 5-1)

Scratch # 5 Breakaway Dixie (ML 3-1)

Time and Chance has demonstrated a distinct liking for a Fast dirt track, as was evidenced in her daylight victory last time out.  Amber Louise took the Place at this class level last time out.  Papaclem'smidnight, who took the Show behind Time and Chance last time out.

RACE 7 - Clm $16k - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 1 All Indians (ML 2-1)
# 2 Cartoonist (ML 5-2)

B’s

None

C's

# 3 Hot Market (ML 4-1)
# 4 Stellar Sea (ML 5-1)
# 5 Brownie Finale (ML 3-1)

All Indians and Cartoonist look to be the quickest here, as both have recently demonstrated good early speed against more expensive stock.  The most likely scenario is that these two battle each other from gate to wire; but should All Indians and Cartoonist run each other into the ground, then any of the other three entrants is capable of coming in late and picking up the pieces.

RACE 8 - Clm $20k N2X - Eight Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 2 Synnin (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 3 My Friend George (ML 3-1)
# 5 Rainbow North (ML 4-1)
# 7 Bay Area (ML 6-1)

C's

None

Synnin fits well at this class level, though the lifetime oh-for-seven on a Fast dirt track is somewhat concerning.  My Friend George took the Place against open $16k Claimers last time out; so while the claiming price today is higher, the fact that this race is conditioned (N2X) makes this pretty much a lateral class move for My Friend George.

Rainbow North has demonstrated a steadily improving form in each of his last few races.  Bay Area could move up with the change in surface.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 2,3,6 with 2 with 1,2 with 2 $6.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 2,3,6,7 with 2,3 with 1,2 with 2,3,5,7 $32.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 4,5 with 2 with 1,2 with 2 $2.00
$0.50 P4: 2,3,6 with 1 with 1,2 with 2 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 2,3,6 with 2 with 3,4,5 with 2 $4.50

Total: $47.50

Post Time for Race 5 is 6:48 EDT / 3:48 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
