I decided to stick with The Late Pick Four Sunday; partly to allow the Gold Rush Pick Six Jackpot to grow a bit more; but mostly because I couldn't make heads or tails out of Race 7, a sprint for Maidens three years old and upward. Monday it's back to my real job; but Tuesday, Independence Day, I expect to dive into the Pick Six pool (provided it doesn't get scooped between then and now). So with that as intro, let's get to it, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at Oak Tree at Pleasanton.
RACE 6 - Clm $3.2k N2X - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 6 Southeast Asia (Morning Line 6-1)
B’s
# 1 Semper Gumby (ML 3-1)
# 3 Spot N the Line (ML 7-2)
C's
# 2 Code Red (ML 8-1)
# 4 Yes I'm Wild (ML 6-1)
# 7 Arthur's Honor (ML 5-2)
Scratch # 5 The Gotham Year (ML 10-1)
Southeast Asia has finished in the Exacta at this class level in each of his last three races, and seems to have been working well for his return to competition. Semper Gumby fits well at this class level, and could be quick off the freshening.
Spot N the Line took the Show at this approximate class level (higher claiming price, but N2L rather than N2X) in each of his last two starts. Code Red is on the ticket because everyone else is. Yes I'm Wild has finished in the Exacta in exactly half of his ten career starts on a Fast dirt track. Arthur's Honor took the Show at this class level two starts back.
RACE 7 - MSW - Six Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 2 Blue Ridge Storm (ML 8-1)
# 6 Luke Thirteen (ML 6-1)
# 10 Skidoo (ML 9-2)
B's
# 1 Ice Cream Fame (ML 8-1)
# 3 On Trust (ML 6-1)
# 4 Thorny Weather (ML 4-1)
# 5 Hillbilly Rockstar (ML 30-1)
# 8 Let's Havanuther (ML 20-1)
# 9 Mini Bar (ML 7-2)
C's
None
Scratch # 7 Stormin G A (ML 20-1)
Yeah, it's everyone into the pool for this contest, as I'll be punching the "ALL" button on the big ticket for this leg. Blue Ridge Storm and Skidoo appear to be the quickest in this field, while Luke Thirteen has been showing steady improvement in each of his career outings. But I don't see any true standouts in this field, which appears to be comprised primarily of runners who do a good job of filling out the lower portion of vertical wagers without seriously threatening the top spot.
RACE 8 - (F) ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Dirt
A's
# 3 Princess Ashlyn (ML 9-5)
B's
None
C's
# 1 Amber Louise (ML 4-1)
# 5 Propeppy (ML 8-1)
Princess Ashlyn was a winner at this class level two starts back, while taking the Place in the two contests that sandwich that event, which were also at this class level. Amber Louise was less than a length behind Princess Ashlyn at the wire last time out; though dirt is probably not Amber Louise's preferred surface. Propeppy could be the one running best late.
RACE 9 - Md $25k - Six Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 2 Smoke and Burn (ML 7-2)
B's
# 1 Zoristo (ML 10-1)
# 9 River House (ML 5-2)
C's
# 3 Cape Agility (ML 4-1)
# 5 Kyllaros (ML 12-1)
# 7 Mysterious Journey (ML 15-1)
Smoke and Burn has taken the Show at this class level in each of his last two starts. Zoristo could wake up with the cut back in distance. River House drops in for a tag after competing against non-Claiming Maidens in his debut.
Cape Agility is making his second career start; Trainer Billy Morey tends to do well with such. Kyllaros ran well in his debut, and wanted no part of two turns last time out. Mysterious Journey may improve while taking another drop down the class ladder.
OK, that's the analysis. Playing my tickets in Crist fashion, I get:
All A Entries
$1.00 P4: 6 with 2,6,10 with 3 with 2 $3.00
All A Entries with All B Entries
$0.50 P4: 1,3,6 with ALL with 3 with 1,2,9 $40.50
A's with One C
$0.50 P4: 2,4,7 with 2,6,10 with 3 with 2 $4.50
$0.50 P4: 6 with 2,6,10 with 1,5 with 2 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 6 with 2,6,10 with 3 with 3,5,7 $4.50
Total: $55.50
Post Time for Race 6 is 7:22 EDT / 4:22 PDT. Good luck to all.
Peace and Love,
Jimbo
