And so we come to the final day of racing at the Alameda County Fairgrounds; at least until Autumn. Now keep in mind that, even though this is the final day of the meet, there is no mandatory payout today for the jackpot pool. The jackpot will carryover to the State Fair at Sacramento; provided, of course, that it doesn't get scooped. So with all that let's get to it, as I take another run at The Gold Rush Pick Six at Oak Tree at Pleasanton.
RACE 4 - (F) Clm $20k - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 3 Inside Scoop (Morning Line 3-1)
B’s
# 2 Marynetta (ML 7-2)
C's
# 1 Classy Lady (ML 6-1)
# 4 Elle Woods Too (ML 9-2)
Inside Scoop could improve with the surface switch, and looks to be the one that will be running best late. Marynetta may be the speed of the speed here, and could improve with the freshening. Classy Lady has finished in the Trifecta both times that she has competed on a Fast dirt track. Elle Woods Too was a winner at this class level last time out; but Elle Woods Too probably won't get the easy early lead today that she had in that contest.
RACE 5 - Md $16k - Five Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 2 Zachian (ML 3-1)
B's
# 1 Out At Eight (ML 6-1)
# 3 Ron Again (ML 8-1)
# 4 Sheer Prince (ML 4-1)
C's
# 5 Kaluha (ML 5-1)
# 8 El Alteno (ML 9-2)
Zachian could improve with the reduction in real estate that he needs to cover today. Out At Eight and Ron Again are a pair of first time starters in a field where none of the experienced runners has shown themselves to be consistently competitive.
Sheer Prince could improve going second off the layoff. Kaluha's bullet work on June 29 would suggest that whatever was effecting him in his last outing is no longer an issue. El Alteno flashed brief early foot in his debut last time out.
RACE 6 - (F) Clm $4k 2L - Six Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 5 Ultimate Game (ML5-2)
B’s
# 2 Im Your Pulpet (ML 9-2)
# 7 Dollemma (ML 20-1)
C's
# 4 Uncle Steve's Girl (ML 5-1)
# 6 Millennium Brew (ML 12-1)
Ultimate Game showed good early speed against more expensive stock last time out. Im Your Pulpet graduated by daylight last time out; and while last time out was eleven months ago for Im Your Pulpet, Trainer Cliff DeLima tends to do well when bringing runners back from an extended leave.
Dollemma took the Show against classier stock downstate two starts back. Uncle Steve's Girl has finished in the Trifecta at this class level in each of her last three starts.
Millennium Brew is the only runner in this field who has visited the Winner's Circle twice; which is odd, since neither the conditions printed with the Past Performances, nor the conditions printed in the track program state any exemptions to the Non-Winners of Two condition (for example, for a Win when the purse was less than $X). I presume that this was an unfortunate omission when these items were printed; and while I don't have a great deal of faith in Millennium Brew's chances today, I do believe that having such an advantage over the rest of the field warrants her inclusion as a backup "C" Selection.
RACE 7 - Alw 40000s N2L - Eight and One Third Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 5 Loma Cat (ML 5-1)
# 7 Baroque (ML 7-2)
# 8 Savrola (ML 4-1)
B’s
None
C's
# 4 Lil' Chieftain (ML 8-1)
Scratch # 2 Onefortheteam (ML 9-2)
Note for future reference that this one is for horses which have not won two races in their career; but with one exemption, as runners get a pass by having one (and only one) win not considered, if one of their two career wins was for $16k or less. For the record, # 7 Baroque and # 8 Savrola are the only two runners in this field to have visited the Winner's Circle twice in their career.
Savrola, Loma Cat, and Baroque filled out the Trifecta (in that order) at this class level last time out, all three crossing under the wire within a length of each other. Lil' Chieftain graduated by daylight last time out; perhaps Lil' Chieftain finally figured out what this racing stuff was all about; or maybe he just really likes this surface.
RACE 8 - ALW N1X - Eight and a Half Furlongs Dirt
A's
# 9 Mr. Shook (ML 3-1)
B's
# 6 Donji (ML 5-1)
C's
# 3 Harvest a Storm (ML 9-2)
# 4 Saxon Lord (ML 8-1)
Scratch # 2 Cackle the Cuda (ML 6-1)
Mr. Shook, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, was within two lengths of the winner at the wire at this class level last time. Mr. Shook's breeding suggests that he should do well today in his first try at two turn racing.
Donji has finished in the Trifecta all three times that he has competed over this track. Harvest a Storm took the Show at this class level last time out, albeit on the grass. Saxon Lord could improve with the change of surface.
RACE 9 - Md $8k - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt
A’s
# 3 This's How We Roll (ML 4-1)
B's
# 5 Atila's War (ML 5-2)
C's
# 1 Genuwine Wine (ML 10-1)
# 2 Atsina Warrior (ML 8-1)
# 4 Plum Lucky (ML 15-1)
# 9 D G Man (ML 7-2)
This's How We Roll took the Show against more expensive last time out. Atila's War showed good early speed against classier foes last time out.
Genuwine Wine has proven competitive at this class level. Atsina Warrior returns from an extended vacation; as stated above, Trainer Cliff DeLima tends to do well with such.
Plum Lucky may have needed that last race. D G Man flashed some good early speed in his debut last time out.
OK, that's the analysis. While this is a jackpot wager, I won't be putting all my selections on one ticket. While I still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of my life, budgetary constraints must be respected. I also think it's safe to presume that my "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket; so I should be safe in pressing those up. So with all that, playing my tickets in Crist fashion, I get:
All A Entries
$1.00 P6: 3 with 2 with 5 with 5,7,8 with 9 with 3 $3.00
All A Entries with All B Entries
$0.20 P6: 2,3 with 1,2,3,4 with 2,5,7 with 5,7,8 with 6,9 with 3,5 $57.60
A's with One C
$0.20 P6: 1,4 with 2 with 5 with 5,7,8 with 9 with 3 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 5,8 with 5 with 5,7,8 with 9 with 3 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 2 with 4,6 with 5,7,8 with 9 with 3 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 2 with 5 with 4 with 9 with 3 $0.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 2 with 5 with 5,7,8 with 3,4 with 3 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 2 with 5 with 5,7,8 with 9 with 1,2,4,9 $2.40
Total: $68.00
Post Time for Race 4 is 6:15 EDT / 3:15 PDT. Good luck to all.
Peace and Love,
Jimbo
