7/22/17 Sacramento Late Pick Four - Preview

The California Governor's Cup for fillies and mares is Saturday's featured race at the California State Fair.  I'll be taking a look at that contest and others below as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at Sacramento.

RACE 6 - (F) Clm $20k N2X - Eight Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 6 Sea Myrtle (Morning Line 5-2)

B’s

# 2 Constant Craving (ML 2-1)
# 4 Warrens Goldnugget (ML 7-2)

C's

None

Sea Myrtle appears to have a class edge here over the rest of the field.  Warrens Goldnugget and Constant Craving filled out the bottom two slots in the Trifecta at this class level last time out, crossing under the wire just a head apart from each other.

RACE 7 - ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Dirt

A's

# 7 Tribal Storm (ML 3-1)

B's

# 2 Tentwelvefourteen (ML 5-1)
# 6 Sir Vronski (ML 5-2)

C's

# 3 Southern Loyalty (ML 9-2)
# 4 An Khe Pass (ML 8-1)

Tribal Storm has finished in the Trifecta in all three of his career starts on a Fast dirt track; all of which were against stiffer competition than that which he will be facing here.  Tentwelvefourteen has proven that he can contend at this class level.

Sir Vronski was victorious is his only prior try over this track, and he could move up with the return to one turn racing.  Southern Loyalty and An Khe Pass are two that are moving up after defeating lesser last time out at Oak Tree at Pleasanton.

RACE 8 - (F) The California Governor's Cup $50k - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 1 Princess Ashlyn (ML 5-2)
# 9 Ashley's Sassy (ML 6-1)

B's

# 6 Invested Prospect (ML 3-1)
# 8 Alliford Bay (ML 15-1)
# 10 Fast and Foxy (ML 8-1)

C's

None

Princess Ashlyn misses by just a head and a neck of entering this contest with a five race winning streak.  Ashley's Sassy could be the one that benefits most from what looks to be a very fast pace setup, while Fast and Foxy could be the speed of the speed.  Invested Prospect and Alliford Bay are a pair trained by Blaine Wright that should be well up on the pace, and either could be dangerous should they get loose early.

RACE 9 - Clm $12.5k N2X - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 6 Weyand (ML 3-1)
# 7 Tribal Again (ML 8-1)

B’s

None

C's

# 1 Jimmy the Juice (ML 6-1)
# 5 Tremors Code (ML 5-1)
# 9 Nevadan (ML 6-1)

Scratch # 2 Barton Lodge (Ire) (ML 4-1) and # 4 Compadre Sam (ML 15-1)

Weyand goes first off the claim for Trainer Rene Amescua, who tends to do well with such.  Weyand misses by less than a length of entering this contest with a four race winning streak.

Tribal Again was victorious three of the last four times that he competed around one turn on a dirt track.  Jimmy the Juice gets some much needed class relief here.  Tremors Code and Nevadan look to be the quickest in this field; so if either should falter, the other could be long gone before the others get going.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 6 with 7 with 1,9 with 6,7 $4.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 2,4,6 with 2,6,7 with 1,6,8,9,10 with 6,7 $45.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 6 with 3,4 with 1,9 with 6,7 $4.00
$0.50 P4: 6 with 7 with 1,9 with 1,5,9 $3.00

Total: $56.00

Post Time for Race 6 is 7:18 EDT / 4:18 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
