3/24/22 Turfway Park Late Pick Four - Results

Race 6 - # 8 Carmel Bay (Final Odds 17.30) - "B" Selection
Race 7 - # 7 Forgot Password (3.10*) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 5 Bella Conchita (3.00) - "C" Selection
Race 9 - # 10 Peyote Peggy (43.20) - "C" Selection

I certainly had no qualms with the way the sequence began, as having the longest shot on the board get under the wire first is pretty much what you're hoping for when you punch the "ALL" button.  But despite the excellent beginning winning tonight was simply not to be; for while my single, # 9 Spare Cash (1.30*) in leg 3, was very game and full of heart, she was a neck too slow in getting under the wire.  Which was probably just as well, as there's no way that I'm finding Peyote Peggy in the nightcap.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of  8 / 7 / 5 / 10  were rewarded with a payout of $11,487.30 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

“To learn something new, you need to try new things and not be afraid to be wrong.” - Roy T. Bennett

I haven't gone back and checked, but I don't believe I've posted anything midweek that wasn't tied to a holiday in quite some time.  But this week I had some spare time on my hands, and I tend to enjoy the action in Florence, KY; so, I figured, why not change it up a bit?  So with that let's get to it, as I take a run at The Late Pick Four at Turfway Park.

RACE 6 - Clm $30k N2L - Six and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Bejan Rum (Morning Line 4-1)

B’s

# 1 Altmeister (ML 4-1)
# 3 Thirsty Owl (ML 5-1)
# 4 Gun Lap (ML 9-2)
# 5 Captain Fantastic (ML 7-2)
# 7 Expensive Cut (ML 8-1)
# 8 Carmel Bay (ML 15-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 6 Notable Exception (ML 5-1)

Bejan Rum is trained by Steve Asmussen, whose runners are oh-for-thirty-seven this meet at Turfway Park.  That is beyond shocking.  Underlining the point is that, of those thirty-seven entrants, only two have taken the Place, while just five have gained the Show.  The bottom line is that, for whatever reason, Trainer Steve Asmussen's runners are very much underperforming this meet at Turfway Park.  So for that reason, even though Bejan Rum looks good enough to single off the class drop, it seemed best to me to spread in this leg.

Altima and Captain Fantastic finished in the Trifecta at this class level last time out in separate events.  Thirsty Owl appears to have an affinity for sprints over this track.  Gun Lap graduated last time out in a convincing enough manner to warrant consideration here.  You know what?  I'm just going to go "ALL" here and move onto the next leg.

RACE 7 - (F) Md $30k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Hey Babe (ML 7-2)

B's

# 7 Forgot Password (ML 8-1)
# 9 Daniella's Cause (ML 8-1)

C's

# 1 Courting War (ML 6-1)
# 3 Fonssagrives (ML 5-1)
# 4 Canary (ML 5-1)
# 6 Trick Hat (ML 15-1)
# 8 Sunflower Road (ML 15-1)

Scratch # 5 Harvey's Princess (ML 3-1)

Hey Babe took the Place at this class level last time out.  Forgot Password could improve with a ride that is closer to the rail than Forgot Password's more recent trips have been.

Daniella's Cause drops in for a tag for the first time in her career.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 8 - MSW - (F) Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 9 Spare Cash (ML 9-5)

B's

None

C's

# 1 Twirling Patti (ML 9-2)
# 2 Trouble Making (ML 10-1)
# 3 Take Joy (ML 30-1)
# 4 Mint Edition (ML 4-1)
# 5 Bella Conchita (ML 5-1)
# 6 Ballot Initiative (ML 15-1)
# 7 Capital Allocation (GB) (ML 10-1)
# 8 Ahh Mazing (ML 8-1)

If you want to try to beat Spare Cash, you can go right ahead.  There are certainly several candidates in this field for which you can make a legitimate case.  But as for me, I see the back to back races that the Brad Cox trained Spare Cash has run over this track, and I firmly believe that if she repeats either effort that Spare Cash gets her picture taken tonight.  So I'm using Spare Cash solo in this leg on the main ticket, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 9 - (F) Md $7.5k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Solesofhershoes (ML 3-1)

B's

# 5 Leia Organa (ML 5-1)
# 6 After the Wire (ML 5-2)
# 7 This Masquerade (ML 8-1)

C's

# 3 Get Clear (ML 15-1)
# 4 Weekend Pass (ML 8-1)
# 9 Reina Del Bali (ML 30-1)
# 10 Peyote Peggy (ML 20-1)
# 11 She Takes Flight (ML 6-1)

Scratch # 1 Rubyinthestars (ML 20-1) and # 8 Wicked Kitty (ML 12-1)

Solesofhershoes and After the Wire filled out the bottom two rungs of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.  Leia Organa took the Place at this class level in a different event last time out.  This Masquerade could improve with the class drop.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 2 with 2 with 9 with 2 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: ALL with 2,7,9 with 9 with 2,5,6,7 $42.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2 with 1,3,4,6,8 with 9 with 2 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 2 with 2 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 with 2 $4.00
$0.50 P4: 2 with 2 with 9 with 3,4,9,10,11 $2.50

Total: $52.00

Post Time for Race 6 is 8:46 EDT / 5:46 PST.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/20/22 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 5 - # 1 Mubtadaa (Final Odds 4.10) - "B" Selection
Race 6 - # 6 For Love Not Money (2.80) - "B" Selection
Race 7 - The Sensational Star - # 2 Brickyard Ride (0.70*) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 10 Park Avenue (5.90) - "C" Selection

Did I consider Park Avenue in the final leg when preparing my tickets?  Yes; indeed, I gave Park Avenue a good long look.  But ultimately I decided that Park Avenue's best races had come when she had been able to obtain an easy lead; something that I concluded was unlikely to occur on Sunday.  But while the Equibase chart of the race tells me that a couple of other horses in the field pulled early, none were allowed to run up on the pace with Park Avenue.  So Park Avenue got the easy lead that I thought she wouldn't, and the race and my chances to collect were effectively finished before the field even entered the stretch.

Oh well; onto the next race.

For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the four runners to which I would have cashed in the final leg:

# 1 Moonlight d’Oro (2.20*) - $87.45 Finish: 4th (Dead Heat)
# 2 New Heat (14.30) - $328.50 Finish: 2nd
# 4 Shore Break (Ire) (12.60) - $486.45 Finish: 4th (Dead Heat)
# 9 Hogans Holiday (12.20) - $306.50 Finish: 9th

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of  1 / 6 / 2 / 10  were rewarded with a payout of $182.85 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

“Your setback is just a setup for a comeback.” - Steve Harvey

The $100k Sensational Star, a charge down the hill for California bred runners four years old and upward, is the featured race Sunday in Arcadia.  I'll be taking a look at that contest below, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at The Great Race Place.

RACE 5 - MSW - Six and a Half Furlongs Turf

A’s

# 8 Trainer Please (Morning Line 7-2)

B's

# 1 Mubtadaa (ML 4-1)
# 7 Admiral Halsey (ML 5-1)

C's

# 2 Naismith (ML 6-1)
# 3 Irish Prophet (ML 15-1)
# 4 Daniel's Magic (ML 15-1)
# 5 Famous Star (ML 5-1)
# 6 Take Action (ML 6-1)
# 9 The Giants Candy (ML 6-1)

Scratch the Also Eligible, # 10 Go Joe Won (ML 15-1)

Trainer Please has taken the Place three times at this class level in his five race career; which shows that Trainer Please has the talent to win at this level; now it's just a matter of Trainer Please displaying the desire to win.

Mubtadaa ships in from the east for some California grass.  Mubtabaa's works over the main track indicate that he is ready to roll off the layoff.

Admiral Halsey took the Show at this class level last time out and is worth another look.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 6 - (F) Md $20k - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 5 Dorita's Happy (ML 5-1)

B's

# 4 Boisterously Irish (ML 3-1)
# 6 For Love Not Money (ML 5-2)
# 8 Circle of Stars (ML 6-1)
# 9 Melgito (ML 12-1)

C's

# 1 Machtenhaironfire (ML 6-1)
# 2 Belle My Belle (ML 20-1)
# 7 Talkingnonstop (ML 15-1)

Scratch # 3 Cayton Kid (ML 6-1)

Dorita's Happy took the Show at this class level last time, and Dorita's Happy could move up going third off the layoff.  Boisterously Irish and Melgito are a pair of first time starters who seem capable of defeating this field of non-overwhelming experienced runners.

For Love Not Money took the Place at this class level last time out while disappointing as the Post Time Favorite.  Circle of Stars drops in for a tag for the first time after showing very little in her debut last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 7 - [S] The Sensational Star $100k - Six and a Half Furlongs Downhill Turf

A’s

# 1 Indian Peak (ML 5-2)

B's

# 2 Brickyard Ride (ML 8-5)

C's

# 3 Sacred Rider (ML 20-1)
# 4 Jetovator (ML 6-1)
# 5 Riding With Dino (ML 5-1)
# 6 Big Fish (ML 15-1)
# 7 Whooping Jay (ML 15-1)
# 8 Fashionably Fast (ML 5-1)

As you can see, I'm not expecting this leg of the sequence to produce any surprises.  I'm just using the two most talented runners, as they stand apart from the rest of the field.  So hopefully this will be a very formful event, and I catch a price in one of the other legs.  As always, the rest of the field will be used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 8 - (F) OC 80k/N2X - Nine Furlongs Turf

A’s

# 1 Moonlight d'Oro (ML 4-1)

B’s

# 2 New Heat (ML 30-1)
# 4 Shore Break (Ire) (ML 12-1)
# 9 Hogans Holiday (ML 12-1)

C's

# 5 Bubbles On Ice (Ire) (ML 7-2)
# 6 California Kook (ML 6-1)
# 7 Moraz (ML 4-1)
# 10 Park Avenue (ML 12-1)
# 11 Stella Noir (ML 6-1)

Scratch # 3 Rocking Redhead (ML 6-1) and # 8 Velvet Slippers (ML 15-1)

For those who note such things, Hogans Holiday is the only entrant in this field that is in for a tag.

Moonlight d'Oro looks classiest here, and if not for this being her first try on the turf, a strong case could be made that Moonlight d'Oro should be a big ticket single.  New Heat owns a victory at today's distance, and New Heat could be the one running best late.

Shore Break (Ire) made a nice move forward last time out, and Shore Break could improve going third off the layoff.  Hogans Holiday missed at this class level and today's distance by just neck two starts back.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 8 with 5 with 1 with 1 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,7,8 with 4,5,6,8,9 with 1,2 with 1,2,4,9 $60.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2,3,4,5,6,9 with 5 with 1 with 1 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 8 with 1,2,7 with 1 with 1 $1.50
$0.50 P4: 8 with 5 with 3,4,5,6,7,8 with 1 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 8 with 5 with 1 with 5,6,7,10,11 $2.50

Total: $71.00

Post Time for Race 5 is 6:08 EDT / 3:08 PDT.  Good luck to all.

3/7/22 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Results

Race 4 - # 1 Bernalinho (Final Odds 2.00) - "B" Selection
Race 5 - # 3 Alqwani (1.30*) - "B" Selection
Race 6 - # 1 Emerald Magic (3.20) - "C" Selection
Race 7 - # 1 Cowboy Charlie (3.00) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 6 Jimmy Blue Jeans (5.90) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 3 North Sea (1.30*) - "B" Selection

Long story short, "A" Selection #6 Satanta (1.90*) was three-quarters of a length too slow in getting to the line in Race 6; and that three-quarters of a length was the difference Monday between me cashing and trashing my tickets.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Golden Pick Six sequence of  1 / 3 / 1 / 1 / 6 / 3  were rewarded with a payout of $1,889.78 for their twenty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/7/22 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

"Bad decisions make good stories." - Ellis Vidler

It's a non-Holiday Monday in the USA; but despite that there is a full day of horse racing scheduled in California, with both Santa Anita and Golden Gate running full cards.  Adding to the enjoyment, Golden Gate has decided to force out a payout of its Jackpot Pick Six.  So, while it's not the weekend, I felt it only proper that I take my shot at getting a share.  So with that let's get to it, as I take a run at The Golden Pick Six at The Bay's Best Bet.

RACE 4 - Clm $8k N2X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 3 Dark Prince (Morning Line 1-1)

B’s

# 1 Bernalinho (ML 5-2)

C's

# 2 Gentleman's Secret (ML 15-1)
# 4 Canyon Crest (ML 20-1)
# 5 Kaline (ML 9-2)
# 6 Big City Bane (ML 6-1)

Dark Prince is being priced to sell here, and Dark Prince should do well with class drop.  Bernalinho is going first off the claim for Trainer Jonathan Wong, who tends to do well with such.  The rest of the field are the backup "C" Selections.

RACE 5 - (F) MSW - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 According to Judy (ML 5-2)

B's

# 1 Connie's Promise (ML 9-2)
# 3 Alqwani (ML 7-2)

C's

# 2 Governor Special (ML 20-1)
# 4 City Glitter (ML 5-1)
# 5 Miner's Melody (ML 8-1)
# 7 Afterdinnerdrink (ML3-1)

According to Judy took the Show at this class level last time out.  Connie's Promise cold improve with the return to one turn racing.

Alqwani is a first time starter with a consistent work tab who looks well meant here.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 6 - Clm $6.25k B - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Satanta (ML 3-1)

B's

# 5 Continental Union (ML 10-1)

C's

# 1 Emerald Magic (ML 4-1)
# 2 Elusive Love (ML 12-1)
# 3 Hong Kong Cowboy (ML 50-1)
# 4 Gobsmack (ML 10-1)
# 7 Bigfoot City (ML 7-2)
# 8 Pappy Boyington (ML 2-1)

This contest is restricted to runners who have either:

1) Not won a race since December 1, 2021; OR
2) Which have never won four races.

So as long as a runner has fewer than four career Wins, then he's eligible to run in this race.  If a horse has four career Wins or more, then none of those Wins could have come since the end of November.   Note that for purposes of eligibility, Claiming and Starter Races for $5k or less don't count, which is why Satanta, who picked up his eighth career win in January, is eligible to run here.  For the record Elusive Love and Pappy Boyington are the two runners in this field with fewer than four career Wins.

Satanta, winner of a Starter Allowance last time out, looks classiest here by far, and probably should be a big ticket single.  But I'm also going to use Continental Union (thus doubling the cost of my main ticket) because I'm intrigued by Trainer Isidro Tamayo re-claiming this runner, and because I like the tactical speed that Continental Union has shown in the past.  So it's those two on the big ticket, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 7 - Alw 50000s N2L - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Heaven Shines (ML 3-1)

B’s

# 1 Cowboy Charlie (ML 6-1)

C's

# 3 Affectionto Autism (ML 9-2)
# 4 Double the Gold (ML 8-1)
# 5 Rhodium Runner (ML 5-1)

Scratch # 2 Artemus Gordon (ML 7-5)

Note for future reference that this contest is for runners which have not won two races in their career; excepting that entrants are given a bye for having one (and just one) victory for $20k or less not counted toward their lifetime total.  However, note that all entrants in this field have just one career Win, which is why I designated this contest as an N2L rather than as an N2X.

Heaven Shines took the Place at this class level last time out, and Heaven Shines could improve going second off the layoff.  Cowboy Charlie took the Place against classier competition two starts back.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 8 - OC 62.5k/N2X - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Jimmy Blue Jeans (ML 5-1)

B’s

# 1 Wine and Whisky (ML 8-1)
# 3 Shadrack (ML 8-1)
# 4 Tom's Surprise (ML 9-5)
# 5 Tesoro (ML 2-1)
# 7 Ready Say Go (ML 15-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 2 Dulas (Ire) (ML 6-1)

For those who note such things, Wine and Whiskey and Shadrack are the two runners in this field that will be competing with the $62.5k price tag on their head.

This is a class level where the runners seemingly take turns defeating each other.  For example, Wine and Whisky, Shadrack, and Tom's Surprise all show victories at this class level in their three most recent starts; while Tesoro and Ready Say Go both show Place finishes at this class level in that same time frame.  So you can either roll the dice and hope to pick the runner whose turn it is to win today, or you can do what I'm doing and just punch the "ALL" button and move on.

RACE 9 - Md $12.5k - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 The Calabrese Kid (ML 4-1)

B's

# 3 North Sea (ML 5-2)
# 5 Word of Warning (ML 9-2)

C's

# 2 Tam's Time (ML 10-1)
# 6 Into Bourbon (ML 5-1)
# 7 Uncle Danny (ML 20-1)
# 8 Fantastic Dream (ML 15-1)
# 9 Thechiefhastricks (ML 15-1)
# 10 Whisper and Wink (ML 12-1)
# 11 Tribute to Art (ML 50-1)

Scratch # 1 Morphy (ML 6-1)

The Calabrese Kid has taken the Place at this class level in each of his last two starts.  North Sea is dropping in for the cheapest tag of his career.

Word of Warning is trained by Jonathan Wong, who tends to do well when sending out debut runners in Maiden Claiming contests.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 3 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 4 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: 1,3 with 1,3,6 with 5,6 with 1,6 with ALL with 3,4,5 $86.40

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 2,4,5,6 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 4 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3 with 2,4,5,7 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 4 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3 with 6 with 1,2,3,4,7,8 with 6 with 6 with 4 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 3 with 6 with 6 with 3,4,5 with 6 with 4 $0.60
$0.20 P6: 3 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 6 with 2,6,7,8,9,10,11 $1.40

Total: $92.20

Post Time for Race 4 is 4:50 EST / 1:50 PST.  Good luck to all.

3/5/22 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 8 - # 8 That's Amare (Final Odds 9.20) - "C" Selection
Race 9 - The Beholder Mile - # 3 As Time Goes By (0.30*) - "A" Selection & "C" Selection*
Race 10 - The Kilroe Mile - # 4 Count Again (2.30*) - "C" Selection
Race 11 - The Santa Anita Handicap - # 6 Express Train (1.10*) - "A" Selection

* - # 4 Founder's Day, a "C" Selection, was a late scratch from Race 9; I therefore received Post Time Favorite As Time Goes By in her place.

First things 1/ST, errrrr, first: Saturday was a tremendous day of racing.  The action at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park with their combined fifteen stakes on this first 1/ST Saturday did not disappoint.  Hopefully we'll be seeing more cards like this in the future.

As regards my play, well, that did disappoint.  The three Graded Stakes that were part of Santa Anita's Late Pick Four all chalked out; an eventuality that I had considered, but decided to wager against coming to pass.  While I had As Time Goes By and Express Train as "A" Selections, I did not have enough confidence to use either one, let alone both, as a single.  As for Count Again, I didn't even have enough confidence to use him on my main ticket; a decision which looked sound up until the final stride of that contest.

So the bottom line was that the last Pick Three of the day chalked out.  Had I correctly handicapped that result coming to pass I might have done a better job of constructing my tickets.  But I didn't; and because of that Saturday was a day for me to contribute instead of collect.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of  8 / 3,4 / 4 / 6  were rewarded with a payout of $64.30 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/5/22 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Preview

“Opportunities don't happen, you create them.” - Chris Grosser

Saturday is Big 'Cap Day in California, but it's also much more than that; as it's also 1/ST Saturday, where the Stronach Group owned Santa Anita Park and Gulfstream Park have carded a combined fifteen stakes races, fourteen of them Graded Stakes.  And while the good people at 1/ST have also put together some tantalizing wagering options, I've decided to stick with my customary Final Four play.  So with that let's get to it, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at The Great Race Place.

RACE 8 - (F) ALW N1X - Six and a Half Furlongs Downhill Turf

A's

# 6 Kalon (Morning Line 6-1)

B's

# 1 Ever Smart (ML 20-1)
# 5 Ultimate Hy (ML 5-1)
# 9 Aloha Kitten (ML 10-1)
# 11 Honey Jar (ML 7-2)

C's

# 2 Another Eddie (ML 12-1)
# 3 Mendham Mill (ML 10-1)
# 4 Zydeco Mama (ML 12-1)
# 7 Taming the Tigress (ML 6-1)
# 8 That's Amare (ML 5-1)
# 10 Xmas Surprise (ML 20-1)
# 12 Thrumps Dream (Ire) (ML 8-1)

Scratch the Also Eligible, # 13 Nu Pi Lambda (ML 8-1)

Kalon, Ultimate Hy, and Honey Jar filled out the bottom three rungs of the Superfecta at this class level back in January.  Ever Smart graduated last time out; it's possible that this five year old mare has finally figured it out.  Even more possible is that Ever Smart has been wanting to run in turf sprints all along.

Aloha Kitten could move up with the cutback in distance.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 9 - (F) The Beholder Mile (Grade 1) - Eight Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 3 As Time Goes By (ML 4-5)

B's

# 6 Envoutante (ML 8-5)

C's

# 1 Varda (ML 6-1)
# 4 Founder's Day (ML 30-1)
# 5 Miss Bigly (ML 5-1)

Scratch # 2 Moonlight D'oro (No Line)

As Time Goes By because all those bills for legal fees aren't going to pay themselves.  Envoutante because sometimes things don't work out as planned.  All others are backup "C" Selections because you never know.

RACE 10 - The Frank E Kilroe Mile (Grade 1) - Eight Furlongs Turf

A’s

# 7 Tell Your Daddy (ML 6-1)

B's

# 6 Law Professor (ML 6-1)
# 8 Space Traveller (GB) (ML 5-1)
# 10 Flavius (ML 6-1)
# 11 Bob and Jackie (ML 20-1)

C's

# 1 Delaware (GB) (ML 20-1)
# 2 Subconscious (ML 5-1)
# 3 Beyond Brilliant (ML 8-1)
# 4 Count Again (ML 7-2)
# 5 Whisper Not (GB) (ML 15-1)
# 9 Team Merchants (ML 20-1)

Scratch # 12 Vanzzy (ML 30-1)

Tell Your Daddy finished in the Exacta in each of his last four contests; and in at least two of those contests Tell Your Daddy faced stiffer competition than that which he will be going up against today.

Law Professor, winner of a pair of Grade 2s over the main track, has won in the over this turf course.  Space Traveller (GB) could move up with the cutback in distance.  Flavius has proven that he can win from anywhere on the track.

Bob and Jackie could improve with the reduction in real estate.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 11 - The Santa Anita Handicap (Grade 1) - Ten Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 6 Express Train (ML 8-5)

B's

# 3 Warrant (ML 4-1)

C's

# 1 Spielberg (ML 8-1)
# 2 Why Why Paul Why (ML 6-1)
# 4 Soy Tapatio (ML 20-1)
# 5 American Theorem (ML 12-1)
# 8 Stilleto Boy (ML 5-2)

Scratch # 7 Kiss Today Goodbye (ML 15-1)

Express Train looks best here, and if Express Train runs the same race that he did in last year's running of this event, then Express Train will be very difficult to beat.  Warrant took the Show in the Grade 3 Louisiana last time out, and Warrant could improve with the increase in distance.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.
