3/28/20 Golden Gate Fields Late Pick Four - Results

Race 6 - # 4 Pulpit Singer (Final Odds 1.30*) - "B" Selection
Race 7 - # 2 Augure (1.20*) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 4 Indian Peak (1.20*) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 2 Toro de Toro (3.10) - "B" Selection

No real surprises in the sequence, as three Post Time Favorites and one second choice on the tote board find their way into the Winner's Circle.  Needless to say, I'm grateful that I didn't single # 8 Shifty Dancer (0.80*) in the nightcap, as Shifty Dancer disappoints as the Post Time Favorite for the third time in his last five starts.  But while getting that one correct allows me to collect, what I collect is less than what I put in.

For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the other three runners to which I would have cashed in the nightcap:

# 1 Earnest (14.80) - $167.55 Finish: 7th
# 6 Zedekiah (4.60) - $52.10 Finish: 2nd
# 8 Shifty Dancer (0.80*) - $15.00 Finish: 3rd

But that's what might have been.  What actually came to be was a correct Late Pick Four sequence of  4 / 2 / 4 / 2  which paid $38.75 for a fifty cent wager; an amount which is less than my initial investment of $45.00.  And while cashing at a loss definitely beats not cashing at all, it's certainly not what I had in mind when I placed my bets.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/28/20 Golden Gate Fields Late Pick Four - Preview

"Life is the art of living with uncertainty, without being paralyzed by fear." - Dr. W. Dillon

Hopefully all of you and those for whom you care are staying healthy and happy and sane.  Thank the good Lord horse racing carries on; albeit in a much smaller package, as Santa Anita and Turfway Park join the many other racetracks that have been forced to cease operations during this global pandemic.  But that's what's not happening; let's focus on what is going on, as I take a run at The Late Pick Four at The Bay's Best Bet.

RACE 6 - (F) Md $8k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Oh What a Ride (Morning Line 7-2)

B's

# 4 Pulpit Singer (ML 2-1)
# 6 Angelin the Harbor (ML 5-2)

C's

# 1 A Will and a Way (ML 20-1)
# 3 I C Fire (ML 9-2)
# 5 Silver Script (ML 20-1)
# 8 Glace Bay Girl (ML 12-1)

Scratch # 7 Capo Vino (ML 12-1)

Oh What a Ride took the Show at this class level in her debut two starts back, and would almost certainly dominate this field if she was to run that race again.  Pulpit Singer disappointed as the Post Time Favorite at this class level last time out, but Pulpit Singer could improve today going third off the layoff.

Angelin the Harbor has taken the Show at this class level in each of her two prior starts.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 7 - (F) Clm $16k - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 3 Just Classy (ML 8-5)

B’s

# 2 Augure (ML 7-5)
# 4 Miss You Mom (ML 12-1)

C's

# 1 Rev Ree (ML 10-1)
# 5 Snow Pack (ML 6-1)
# 6 Charlie's Belle (ML 8-1)

Just Classy was victorious is each of her two prior starts, and now goes first off the claim for Trainer Genaro Vallejo, who tends to do well with such.  Augure, trained by Jonathan Wong, should move up with the class drop.  Miss You Mom, trying winners for the first time, could be the one running best late.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 8 - [S] OC 50k/N1X - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Indian Peak (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 3 Awesome Summer (ML 2-1)

C's

# 1 Sacred Rider (ML 7-2)
# 2 Fantasy Game (ML 8-1)
# 5 Admirably (ML 10-1)
# 6 Wine and Whisky (ML 6-1)
# 7 Prince de Prince (ML 10-1)

The conditions don't say that this contest is state bred restricted; but every runner in this field is California bred; so, for future reference, I'm going to consider this race to have been restricted to California breds.

Indian Peak took the Show last time out in the $100k El Camino Real Derby, and Indian Peak could benefit from the reduction in distance.  Awesome Summer took the Place at this approximate class level last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 9 - Clm $8k N2X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 8 Shifty Dancer (ML 6-5)

B’s

# 1 Earnest (ML 12-1)
# 2 Toro de Toro (ML 9-2)
# 6 Zedkiah (ML 7-2)

C's

# 3 Papa Do Run (ML 15-1)
# 4 Hardly Chisel (ML 15-1)
# 5 Sooner Better (ML 8-1)
# 7 Rey Coliman (ML 10-1)

Shifty Dancer, trained by Jonathan Wong, took the Place against more expensive stock in each of his last two races, and I may later regret not making him a big ticket single.  The reason why I decided to spread here is that Shifty Dancer also took the Place the last time that he competed at this class level, giving Shifty Dancer three Place finishes in his four 2020 starts; so my concern is that Shifty Dancer may have reached the point in his career where he's willing to settle for minor awards.

Earnest goes second off the claim for Trainer Jack Steiner, who tends to do well with such.  Toro de Toro took the Show against classier competition last time out.  Zedikiah took the Place at this class level last time out.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 2 with 3 with 4 with 8 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 2,4,6 with 2,3,4 with 3,4 with 1,2,6,8 $36.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 1,3,5,8 with 3 with 4 with 8 $2.00
$0.50 P4: 2 with 1,5,6 with 4 with 8 $1.50
$0.50 P4: 2 with 3 with 1,2,5,6,7 with 8 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 2 with 3 with 4 with 3,4,5,7 $2.00

Total: $45.00

Post Time for Race 6 is 6:16 EDT / 3:16 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/21/20 Turfway Park Late Pick Four - Results

Race 5 - # 9 Flirty (Final Odds 3.90) - "A" Selection
Race 6 - # 9 Be With Us (27.50) - "C" Selection
Race 7 - # 9 Land Battle (6.90) - "B" Selection
Race 8 - # 10 Zipaway (0.50*) - "A" Selection

Getting home a non-Favorite "A" Selection is certainly a good thing, and it's definitely a great way to begin any sequence.  But going with # 7 Unmoored (7.80) instead of Land Battle as my top pick in Race 7 was due to a late minute change which, needless to say, I now regret; though not singling Zipaway in the nightcap may have been a bigger mistake, as doing so would have allowed me to go "ALL" in for the second leg.  Anyway, two mistakes in a wager that requires you to pick 'em all proved to be two too many, thus making Saturday a day for me to contribute instead of collect.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of  9 / 9 / 9 / 10  were rewarded with a payout of $1,165.35 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/21/20 Turfway Park Late Pick Four - Preview

“You shouldn’t focus on why you can’t do something, which is what most people do. You should focus on why perhaps, you could be one of the exceptions.” - Steve Case

A week after Field Pass's victory in the Jeff Ruby Steaks, races in Florence, KY return to their normal nighttime Post Times.  By the way, am I the only one who thinks nighttime tracks should stay nighttime for their biggest days?  I mean, running all your cards at night except for your biggest day strikes me as if the NFL was to decide to hold the Super Bowl on a Tuesday afternoon.  But right now there are more important things to be thinking about; for example, Saturday's sequence, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at Turfway Park.

RACE 5 - (F) Clm $12.5k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 9 Flirty (Morning Line 5-1)

B’s

# 1 Pure Sugar (ML 3-1)
# 6 No Interest (ML 4-1)

C's

# 2 Catty Krys (ML 5-1)
# 3 Fun Sucker (ML 12-1)
# 4 Lady Leah (ML 15-1)
# 5 Maria Rose (ML 20-1)
# 7 Fashion Envy (ML 30-1)
# 8 Dance the Day Away (ML 8-1)
# 11 Vortices (ML 10-1)
# 12 Momenta Kat (ML 20-1)

Scratch # 10 Kantastic (ML 12-1); but don't bring in the Also Eligible, # 13 Cora Anne (ML 10-1), because she's scratched too.

Flirty won with a higher price tag on her head last time out, and at today's level three starts back.  Pure Sugar took the Place while disappointing as the Post Time Favorite last time out, and now goes first off the claim for Trainer Ralph Martinez, who tends to do well with such.

No Interest failed as the Post Time Favorite in each of her two most recent starts; but No Interest can certainly win at this class level.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 6 - (F) Clm $30k N2L - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 5 Winyah Bay (ML 9-5)

B’s

# 2 Stylish Kitten (ML 2-1)
# 6 She's Hot Today (ML 3-1)

C's

# 1 Baytown Vi Vi (ML 20-1)
# 4 Lake Barkley (ML 30-1)
# 7 Ascender (ML 10-1)
# 9 Be With Us (ML 20-1)

Scratch # 3 Tricky Tune (ML 12-1) and # 8 Miss Jacqueline (ML 8-1)

Winyah Bay won convincingly last time out; and Trainer Wesley Ward tends to do well when placing his last out graduates.  Stylish Kitten won by the length of the stretch last time out, albeit for different connections.

She's Hot Today could move up with the class drop.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 7 - OC 40k/N2X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 7 Unmoored (ML 8-1)

B’s

# 2 Better Watch Out (ML 8-1)
# 3 Infinite (ML 6-1)
# 9 Land Battle (ML 8-1)
# 10 Strong Yen (ML 6-1)
# 11 Hemp Hemp Hurray (ML 9-2)

C's

# 1 Jersey Agenda (ML 5-1)
# 4 Capture the Glory (ML 20-1)
# 5 Jova (ML 30-1)
# 6 Mannford (ML 12-1)
# 8 Antrim's Giant (ML 5-1)
# 13 Rocket Joe Cooper (ML 15-1)

Scratch # 12 Durango Kid (ML 20-1) and # 14 Splash for Gold (ML 15-1)

Unmoored took the Place at this class level last time out.  Better Watch Out tends to run well on the synthetic, and Better Watch Out appears to be in good form.  Infinite, trained by Wesley Ward, could benefit from the freshening.

Land Battle took the Place against classier stock two starts back, and Land Battle could improve going second off the layoff.  Strong Yen could improve with the cutback in distance.  Hemp Hemp Hurray took the Show in a listed stakes last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 8 - Md $5k - Five Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 10 Zipaway (ML 1-1)

B's

# 2 Postimpressionist (ML 4-1)

C's

# 1 Bourbon Bryce (ML 15-1)
# 3 Button Box (ML 20-1)
# 4 Sonshine Pegasus (ML 15-1)
# 5 Ame Real Citizen (ML 20-1)
# 7 Diceman (ML 15-1)
# 8 Hey Ray (ML 15-1)

# 9 Stonetown Boy (ML 12-1)
# 11 Paul Brown (ML 50-1)
# 13 Carigan (ML 15-1)
# 14 Cincinn (ML 20-1)

Scratch # 6 Star for Betsy (ML 4-1) and # 12 Jack Sparrow (ML 50-1)

Zipaway returns to competition after a fourteen month vacation, and drops from non-Claiming Maidens to the cheapest Maiden Claimers on the premises.  Normally that's a huge red flag; but Trainer Wesley Ward tends to move when making this move, as he's just looking to grab a sure purse while almost certainly saying goodbye  to one of his chargers.

Postimpressionist took the Place against more expensive stock two starts back, and Postimpressionist could rebound going third off the layoff.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 9 with 5 with 7 with 10 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,6,9 with 2,5,6 with 2,3,7,9,10,11 with 2,10 $54.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2,3,4,5,7,8,11,12 with 5 with 7 with 10 $4.00
$0.50 P4: 9 with 1,4,7,9 with 7 with 10 $2.00
$0.50 P4: 9 with 5 with 1,4,5,6,8,13 with 10 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 9 with 5 with 7 with 1,3,4,5,7,8,9,11,13,14 $5.00

Total: $69.00

3/14/20 Turfway Park All Stakes Pick Four - Results

Race 8 - The Rushaway - # 2 Vanzzy (Final Odds 2.20*) - "B" Selection
Race 9 - The Kentucky Cup Classic - # 3 Nun the Less (5.40) - "B" Selection
Race 10 - The Bourbonette Oaks - # 3 Queen of God (6.80) - "C" Selection
Race 11 - The Jeff Ruby Steaks - # 12 Field Pass (3.80) - "B" Selection

The sequence certainly did not begin well for me, as watching the Post Time Favorite win for fun was not what I wanted to see after punching the "ALL" button in the opening leg.  But that iceberg did not sink the ship; instead it was my big ticket single's (# 9 Laura's Light (0.90*)) inability to last 'til the wire in the Bourbonette Oaks which ultimately made Saturday a day for me to contribute instead of collect.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of  2 / 3 / 3 / 12  were rewarded with a payout of $693.05 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/14/20 Turfway Park All-Stakes Pick Four - Preview

"Panic causes tunnel vision. Calm acceptance of danger allows us to more easily assess the situation and see the options." - Simon Sinek

The Road to the Kentucky Derby passes through Florence, KY Saturday, with three years old competing in the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks.  As one would expect for the biggest day of the meet, there are a plethora of wagering options from which to choose, including a quartet of Pick Fours.  I've decided to go after the one consisting of all stakes, culminating with the featured race on the card (Races 8 - 11, inclusive, to be more precise).  So with that let's get to it, as I take a run at The All-Stakes Pick Four at Turfway Park.

RACE 8 - The Rushaway $100k - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Uncork the Bottle (Morning Line 9-2)

B's

# 1 Crypto Cash (ML 7-2)
# 2 Vanzzy (ML 7-2)
# 3 Blanket of Roses (ML 5-1)
# 6 Amen Corner (ML 12-1)
# 7 Something Natural (ML 3-1)
# 8 Memorable (ML 5-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 5 Drew (ML 20-1)

I decided to go "ALL" in for this leg, as the field size is small enough to allow it, while the contest itself is competitive enough that I can't see myself using fewer than five of the eight runners on the main ticket anyway.  So no matter what else may happen with the rest of the sequence, I'm guaranteed to come out of the opening stanza with the main ticket still intact.

RACE 9 - The Kentucky Cup Classic $150k - Nine Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 10 Somelikeithotbrown (ML 2-1)

B's

# 3 Nun the Less (ML 9-2)
# 12 Blended Citizen (ML 5-2)

C's

# 1 Dragon Bay (ML 50-1)
# 2 Flying Scotsman (ML 20-1)
# 4 Moon Over Montana (ML 20-1)
# 5 Peekacho (ML 20-1)
# 6 Space Mountain (ML 15-1)
# 8 Royal Mesa (ML 15-1)
# 9 Signalman (ML 5-1)
# 11 Lanier (ML 15-1)

# 13 Lo's Journey (ML 30-1)

Scratch # 7 Thirsty Betrayal (ML 50-1) and # 14 Apreciado (ML 6-1)

Somelikeithotbrown, trained by Mike Maker, was a convincing winner in a no conditions Allowance contest last time out over this track.  Somelikeithotbrown's bullet five furlong work a week ago today suggests that he's in top form.

Nun the Less is the defending champ here, having won this event last year.  Blended Citizen, trained by Brad Cox, took the Place in the Grade 3 Louisiana last time out; and Blended Citizen was victorious in his only prior try over this track.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 10 - (F) The Bourbonette Oaks $150k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 9 Laura's Light (ML 9-5)

B's

None

C's

# 2 Swanage (ML 12-1)
# 3 Queen of God (ML 9-2)

# 4 Oxum Power (ML 8-1)
# 5 Pass the Plate (ML 4-1)
# 6 Fashion Code (ML 20-1)
# 7 Impeccable Style (ML 4-1)

# 8 Las Ramblas (ML 50-1)
# 10 Kay Bee Gee (ML 20-1)
# 11 Baby Karats (ML 50-1)

# 12 Secretly Wicked (ML 50-1)
# 13 A Wicked Wildcat (ML 50-1)

Scratch # 1 Mama's Grey Ghost (ML 20-1)

The Peter Miller trained Laura's Light's only defeat in her four race career was when she took the Place behind Alms in the Grade 3 Jimmy Durantee at Del Mar back in November.  Laura's Light was victorious in her debut at Golden Gate last Fall, so she has experience competing on a synthetic surface.  So this is where I take my stand, making Laura's Light my big ticket single, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 11 - The Jeff Ruby Steaks (Grade 3) - Nine Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 11 Invader (ML 3-1)

B's

# 3 Fancy Liquor (ML 8-1)
# 7 Victory Boulevard (ML 30-1)
# 12 Field Pass (ML 7-2)

C's

# 1 Dack Janiel's (ML 30-1)
# 2 Toma Todo (ML 20-1)

# 4 Unthrottled (ML 30-1)
# 5 Myamanoi (ML 4-1)
# 6 Halo Again (ML 8-1)
# 9 Austrian (ML 50-1)
# 10 The Stiff (ML 12-1)

Scratch # 8 Finnick the Fierce (ML 6-1)

Invader, trained by Wesley Ward, won the prep for this event, the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes, by as many as he wanted last time out; and the bullet five furlong work Invader had over this track on Monday suggests that he's in top form.  Fancy Liquor, Victory Boulevard, and Field Pass, all trained by Mike Maker, are all trying the synthetic surface for the first time; if any take to it, they just might upset the Favorite.   The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 4 with 10 with 9 with 11 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: ALL with 3,10,12 with 9 with 3,7,11,12 $42.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 4 with 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,11,13 with 9 with 11 $4.50
$0.50 P4: 4 with 10 with 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,10,11,12,13 with 11 $5.50
$0.50 P4: 4 with 10 with 9 with 1,2,4,5,6,9,10 $3.50

Total: $56.50

Post Time for Race 8 is 4:45 EDT / 1:45 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/7/20 Turfway Park Late Pick Four - Results

Race 5 - # 9 Complete (Final Odds 2.90) - "B" Selection
Race 6 - # 2 Solo Drink (12.70) - "B" Selection
Race 7 - # 10 Surreptitious (1.30*) - "A" Selection
Race 8 - # 6 Stately Oak (4.30) - "B" Selection

If you're only going to get one "A" Selection home, it's a good idea to have it be your big ticket single.  In a wager in which you have to hit 'em all if you want to win, they're all equally important; but Surreptitious getting under the wire a length in front of # 4 Claudette Nonstop (6.40) in the penultimate leg was a key component in making Saturday a day for me to collect instead of contribute.

For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the other four runners to which I would have cashed in the nightcap:

# 1 Heat Road (11.30) - $566.60 Finish: 5th
# 2 Confection Fortune (6.00) - $305.40 Finish: 6th
# 4 Salty Rim (6.50) - $521.05 Finish: 2nd
# 9 Henny Hefner (3.00*) - $307.35 Finish: 4th

But that's what might have been.  What actually came to be was a correct Late Pick Four sequence of  9 / 2 / 10 / 6  which paid $352.55 for a fifty cent wager.  That makes for a profit of $300.05 on my initial $52.50 investment; or approximate odds of 5.71-1.

I hope you all had it with me.  May God bless us as we spend our winnings.

Onto the next race!

Peace and Love,

Jimbo

3/7/20 Turfway Park Late Pick Four - Preview

“You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight saving time.” - Dave Barry

Welcome to the first Saturday in March; and (for most US residents) the final day of standard time, not to be experienced again in these parts again until November.  So with that bit of current events out of the way let's get to it, as I take another run at The Late Pick Four at Turfway Park.

RACE 5 - (F) MSW - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 7 Purple Martin (Morning Line 9-2)

B's

# 1 Athary (Ire) (ML 4-1)
# 9 Complete (ML 7-2)

C's

# 2 Untapped Fire (ML 8-1)
# 3 Nessum Dorma (ML 8-1)
# 4 Bird Key (ML 15-1)
# 5 Eden (ML 3-1)
# 6 Mollys Melodie (ML 20-1)

# 8 Smashville (ML 30-1)
# 10 Alexandra Thirteen (ML 15-1)

Purple Martin took the Show at this class level at today's distance last time out.  Complete and Athary (Ire) (the only runner in this field not bred in Kentucky) filled out the bottom two rungs of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.

I don't know why, but Nessum Dorma is listed in my Past Performances as having the equipment change "Blinkers On;" which is kinda odd, since Nessum Dorma has worn blinkers in each of her two more recent races.  If that is something other than a human error somewhere, please let us know in the comments below.  Anyway, the backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field, including Nessum Dorma.

RACE 6 - Clm $7.5k N3L - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 7 Pioneer Dancer (ML 7-2)

B’s

# 2 Solo Drink (ML 8-1)
# 3 High Powered (ML 8-1)
# 4 Big Iron (ML 4-1)
# 6 Purr Cat (ML 5-1)

C's

# 1 Gunny Roo (ML 15-1)
# 8 Barin (ML 8-1)
# 9 Resistance Jak (ML 30-1)

# 10 Fred's Country Boy (ML 20-1)
# 11 Fighting for Grace (ML 15-1)

Scratch # 5 Grade (ML 9-2)

Pioneer Dancer should benefit from the class drop, as well as from going third off the layoff.  Note also that Pioneer Dancer was victorious two of the previous three times that he competed over this track.

Solo Drink took took the Place at this class level two starts back in front of a next out winner.  High Powered seemed to wake up with the class drop last time out, flashing some early foot.  Big Iron could improve with the return to synthetic.

Purr Cat took the Place at this class level last time out in front of a next out winner.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 7 - (F) MSW - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 10 Surreptitious (ML 5-2)

B's

None

C's

# 1 Island Betty (ML 30-1)
# 2 Seminole Sisters (ML 10-1)
# 3 Sway to Go (ML 6-1)
# 4 Claudette Nonstop (ML 7-2)
# 5 Just a Look (ML 3-1)
# 6 Daisy Jane (ML 30-1)
# 7 Thrombocytopenia (ML 12-1)
# 8 La Monse (ML 20-1)
# 9 Moonlight Dancing (ML 6-1)

Surreptitious took the Place against the boys at this class level last time out, crossing under the wire a half length in front of a next out winner.  If you'd rather not single here, there are certainly other good runners in this field (for example, Claudette Nonstop, Just a Look, and Moonlight Dancing) but, in my humble opinion, Surreptitious looks clearly best here.  So I'll be going one deep in this leg, with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 8 - Clm $5k N1Y - Five Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 9 Henny Hefner (ML 5-1)

B’s

# 1 Heat Road (ML 8-1)
# 2 Confection Fortune (ML 7-2)
# 4 Salty Rim (ML 4-1)
# 6 Stately Oak (ML 4-1)

C's

# 3 J Dub (ML 10-1)
# 5 Forrest Warrior (ML 30-1)
# 7 Hugh B (ML 15-1)
# 8 Triple Delight (ML 12-1)
# 10 Northern Ranger (ML 20-1)
# 11 Dujac (ML 20-1)
# 12 A Nice Rendition (ML 12-1)

Scratch the Also Eligibles, # 1A Zen Papa (was part of an entry) and # 13 Pequeno Grande (ML 8-1)

The Past Performances that I have give this contest as an N1X; but the conditions, which state that this race is restricted to runners which have not won a race since March 7, 2019, indicate that this is actually an N1Y.  Note that when determining eligibility races for $4k or less don't count; just in case you were wondering why Confection Fortune, who has visited the Winner's Circle multiple times in the past three hundred and sixty-six days, is allowed to run here.

Henny Hefner, Heat Road, and Confection Fortune could benefit from the reduction in real estate that they will have to cover compared to their last out contest.  I'm giving the edge to Henny Hefner, but I would be comfortable with any one of those three as my top pick.

Salty Rim could move up with the class drop.  Stately Oak could be the speed of the speed.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 7 with 7 with 10 with 9 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,7,9 with 2,3,4,6,7 with 10 with 1,2,4,6,9 $37.50

$0.50 P4: 7 with 7 with 10 with 3,5,7,8,10,11,12 $3.50

Total: $52.50

Post Time for Race 5 is 8:12 EST / 5:12 PST.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,
