9/21/19 Remington Park Primetime Pick Four - Preview

First a quick head's up that next weekend Remington Park will be hosting the 2019 edition of Oklahoma Derby Day on Sunday afternoon, September 29.  Good Lord willing I'll be playing that card, which will feature a half dozen stakes in addition to the Grade 3 $400k Oklahoma Derby.  So don't spend any time looking here for selections for Saturday, September 28, as there won't be any; as all of next weekend's prognostications will be focused on Sunday's card.  And with that programming note out of the way let's get to tonight's action, as I take another run at The Primetime Pick Four at Remington Park.

RACE 6 - ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Dirt

A's

# 5 Alpha to Omega (Morning Line 9-5)

B's

# 3 Kwik (ML 12-1)
# 6 Kenai Bob (ML 6-1)
# 7 Youvesaiditall (ML 8-1)

C's

# 1 Euramaster (ML 5-2)
# 2 Main Road (ML 4-1)
# 4 Giant Pulpit (ML 15-1)

Alpha to Omega (not to be confused with Alpha and Omega, who ran at this track in Race 6 last Saturday) graduated last time out by a comfortable enough margin to suggest that he will do well here.  Also note that Alpha to Omega trainer Karl Broberg tends to do well when placing his last out maiden winners.

Kwik and Youvesaiditall filled out the bottom two rungs of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.  Kenai Bob ships in from Canterbury Park, and had a fine work over this main track back on the 12th.  Kenai Bob has finished in the Trifecta in seven of his eight career starts.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 7 - Md $7.5k - Eight Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 4 Cliff's Place (ML 6-5)

B's

# 8 Abstract Paynter (ML 8-5)

C's

# 1 Talk Big Money (ML 30-1)
# 2 Danzing River (ML 20-1)

# 3 Hesa Pegasus (ML 50-1)
# 5 Sournois (ML 8-1)
# 6 Bad Boy Kenny (ML 30-1)
# 7 Willyoustandforme (ML 30-1)
# 9 Easy So Easy (ML 50-1)

Scratch # 10 Linus (ML 5-1)

Those among you who note such things should be aware that the claiming price for Oklahoma breds in this contest is $10k, $2.5k above the rest of the field.  The five Oklahoma breds in this race are: Talk Big Money; Danzing River; Hesa Pegasus; Bad Boy Kenny; and Willyoustandforme.

Cliff's Place, sired by Gemologist, was purchased as a yearling for $170k at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale back in 2016; so to say that Cliff's Place has had a disappointing career is putting it mildly.  Still, Cliff's Place did take the Show while sprinting at this class level last time out, and Cliff's Place has finished in the Trifecta in the past while routing.

Abstract Paynter should benefit from the class drop, and his form looks much better if you ignore the turf starts.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 8 - (F) Clm $5k - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 2 Council Rules (ML 1-1)

B’s

# 5 Sundance Seven (ML 15-1)

C's

# 1 Five Butterflies (ML 20-1)
# 3 Assembled Lady (ML 15-1)
# 4 Misty Journey (ML 20-1)
# 6 Sunshine Cake (ML 5-2)
# 7 Maryblueeyes (ML 12-1)
# 8 My Holiday (ML 10-1)
# 9 Quiet Flattering (ML 12-1)

The claiming price for Oklahoma breds in this race is $6.25k; or, at least, it would be were there any Oklahoma breds in this contest.

Council Rules, who took the Place against classier stock in each of her last two races, should probably be a big ticket single here; and if you're looking to cut costs, halving the price of my main ticket may prove to be a good way to go.  But I talked myself into using Sundance Seven because she's run well in the past on off tracks; and also because Sundance Seven projects to be the one running best late in a field that's filled with a bunch of early speed.  So onto the big ticket goes Sundance Seven; with the rest of the field being used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 9 - Md $25k - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 10 Texas Troubador (ML 5-2)

B's

# 1 My True Reward (ML 10-1)
# 2 Tres Chiflados (ML 12-1)
# 5 Punch Out (ML 7-2)
# 8 Moro Appeal (ML 8-1)
# 12 Airedale (ML 7-2)

C's

# 3 Colonel Bowie (ML 15-1)
# 4 Flyin' Easy (ML 30-1)
# 6 Swine Dawg (ML 30-1)
# 7 Bling Couture (ML 20-1)
# 9 Golden Heat (ML 30-1)
# 11 Last Can (ML 15-1)

These are juveniles; and as none were bred in Oklahoma, it really doesn't matter that claiming an Oklahoma bred from this race would have cost you $30k, rather than $25k.

Texas Troubador and Moro Appeal filled out the bottom two rungs of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.  My True Reward missed victory by less than a length in his debut at Lone Star two starts back, and is now dropping in for a tag for the first time.  Tres Chiflados took the Show against non-Claiming Maidens at Canterbury Park last time out.

Punch Out is making his debut here; and you have to figure that when he was bought at Keeneland for $100k in November 2017, it wasn't with the idea that he would be offered for sale for just a quarter of that purchase price his first time out.  But while Punch Out may not be a world beater, he seems to have been working well enough to compete at this class level.

Airedale is another debut runner who has been working well of late.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 5 with 4 with 2 with 10 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 3,5,6,7 with 4,8 with 2,5 with 1,2,5,8,10,12 $48.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 1,2,4 with 4 with 2 with 10 $1.50
$0.50 P4: 5 with 1,2,3,5,6,7,9 with 2 with 10 $3.50
$0.50 P4: 5 with 4 with 1,3,4,6,7,8,9 with 10 $3.50
$0.50 P4: 5 with 4 with 2 with 3,4,6,7,9,11 $3.00

Total: $60.50

Post Time for Race 6 is 10:27 EDT / 7:27 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
