10/12/19 Remington Park Primetime Pick Four - Preview

A nice mixture in Saturday's final four contests on the Oklahoma City card; and, that's about all I have by way of introduction.  So with that let's just get to it, as I take another run at The Primetime Pick Four at Remington Park.

RACE 6 - ALW NC - Eight and a Half Furlongs Turf

A's

# 5 Keep Quiet (Fr) (Morning Line 1-1)

B's

# 1 Chris and Dave (ML 9-2)

C's

# 2 Pinson (ML 12-1)
# 3 Net Gain (ML 15-1)
# 4 Tiz Plus (ML 4-1)
# 6 One Son of a Chief (ML 30-1)
# 7 Blue Harbor (ML 6-1)

This is an Allowance Race with no conditions; so if you've got a horse and want to run it, you're free to do so here.

Keep Quiet (Fr) couldn't close the deal last time out in the $100k Remington Green on Oklahoma Derby Day a couple of weekends ago; but Keep Quiet looks must too good here to not use in the top slot.  Still, that last outing does argue against making Keep Quiet a big ticket single; so for that reason I'll also be using Chris and Dave, who took the Show at this class level (albeit on the main track) last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 7 - Clm $7.5k N2L - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 9 Euroeast (ML 9-2)

B’s

# 7 Calculating King (ML 9-2)
# 8 Malibu Mo (ML 5-2)

# 13 Hot Harvey (ML 20-1)

C's

# 1 Officer Sid (ML 5-1)
# 2 Callme Mr Mister (ML 30-1)
# 3 Crafty's Last (ML 20-1)
# 4 Coconut Ice (ML 12-1)

# 5 Ladie Go (ML 50-1)
# 6 Runforusrun (ML 12-1)
# 10 Curandero (ML 20-1)
# 11 Song and a G (ML 20-1)

# 12 Three Time Charmer (ML 10-1)
# 14 Chargin Texan (ML 15-1)

As is typical for Claiming Races at Remington Park, the price for Oklahoma breds is higher than it is for the rest of the field.  So if you're looking to purchase Ladie Go or Euroeast, it'll cost you $10k, rather than $7.5k.  However, Calculating King and Three Times Charmer are also Oklahoma breds; but their claiming price in the Past Performances (at least, in the PPs that I am using) is given as $7.5k.  So I'm not sure what that's all about; my most likely guess being that there was just an error in the PPs.  If anyone reading this should know the full story, please let us all know in the comments below.

Euroeast took the Place at this class level last time out.  Calculating King and Malibu Mo both graduated (in separate contests) last time out, and both seem capable of making it two Wins in a row.  Hot Harvey took the Show at this class level last time out, and Hot Harvey could improve off the freshening.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 8 - Clm $15k - Five Furlongs Turf

A’s

# 6 Channel Won (ML 9-5)

B’s

# 1 No Holds Barred (ML 7-2)
# 3 Hotfoot (ML 5-1)

C's

# 2 Tre Lee Divine (ML 15-1)
# 4 St. Louie Guy (ML 10-1)
# 5 Pop Culture (ML 6-1)
# 7 He's a Ranger (ML 20-1)
# 8 Major Munnings (ML 12-1)
# 9 Alpha and Omega (ML 12-1)
# 10 White Walls (ML 20-1)

As per usual, Oklahoma breds cost more; so if you want to claim Alpha and Omega, it'll cost you an extra $2.5k.

Channel Won should benefit from the class relief.  No Holds Barred and Hotfoot filled out the bottom two slots of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 9 - (F) [S] Md $7.5k - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 2 She Stops Traffic (ML 6-1)

B's

# 6 Special Sky (ML 20-1)
# 8 Fine Cut Diamond (ML 15-1)
# 14 Adverse Possession (ML 8-1)

C's

# 1 Smokin Sheets (ML 6-1)
# 3 Clever Melody (ML 30-1)
# 5 Affirmatif Star (ML 12-1)
# 7 Mark Her Precious (ML 15-1)
# 9 Ambara (ML 20-1)
# 10 Without Compromise (ML 50-1)
# 11 Gospel Patricia (ML 50-1)
# 12 Stellar Bess (ML 20-1)
# 13 She's Earthbound (ML 3-1)

Scratch # 4 Fast Down the Lane (ML 8-5)

Needless to say, the scratch of the Morning Line Favorite in this contest has made this a wide open affair.  It'll be interesting to see which way the wagering public chooses to go.

She Stops Traffic drops in for a tag for the first time in her career.  Special Sky could move up with the drop in class.  Fine Cut Diamond showed good earlier speed last time out in her first start of 2019.

Adverse Possession goes first off the claim for Trainer Stetson Mitchell, who tends to do well with such.  Affirmatif Star and She's Earthbound are two that fit well here and should contend; but I feel that they've had more than enough chances to graduate at this class level; so I'll be using those two, as well as the rest of the field, as backup "C" Selections.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 5 with 9 with 6 with 2 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,5 with 7,8,9,13 with 1,3,6 with 2,6,8,14 $48.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2,3,4,6,7 with 9 with 6 with 2 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 5 with 1,2,3,4,5,6,10,11,12,14 with 6 with 2 $5.00
$0.50 P4: 5 with 9 with 2,4,5,7,8,9,10 with 2 $3.50
$0.50 P4: 5 with 9 with 6 with 1,3,5,7,9,10,11,12,13 $4.50

Total: $64.50

Post Time for Race 6 is 10:27 EDT / 7:27 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
