10/5/19 Remington Park Primetime Pick Four - Preview

Fillies and Mares take center stage Saturday evening in Oklahoma City, as seventy-five percent of the final four contests on the program have been carded for distaff runners.  So with that let's get to it, as I take another run at The Primetime Pick Four at Remington Park.

RACE 6 - (F) OC 10k/Alw 7500s - Eight and a Third Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 1 Heavens Whisper (Morning Line 4-5)

B’s

# 5 Don't Tell Lydia (ML 4-1)

C's

# 2 Teaspoon (ML 20-1)
# 4 Betty Jean (ML 15-1)
# 6 Desert Madam (ML 9-2)
# 7 Icy Dawn (ML 20-1)
# 8 Magic in Motion Gp (ML 8-1)

Scratch # 3 Racey Reecey (ML 20-1)

This is a hybrid Starter Allowance / Optional Claimer.  The conditions allow any distaff runner that has started for a claiming price of $7.5k or less over the past twelve months to run without fear of being claimed.  Any other distaff runner that enters will compete with the $10k price tag on her head.  For the record, note that there are three here entered for the $10k claiming price: Teaspoon; Desert Madam; and Icy Dawn.

Heavens Whisper, who disappointed last time out as the Post Time Favorite, should benefit greatly from the drop in class.  Don't Tell Lydia began her career by losing twelve straight starts.  Don't Tell Lydia has since won five in a row; albeit for different connections than the ones sending her to the post today.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 7 - Clm $5k - Six and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 4 Long Station (ML 8-5)

B’s

# 1 Count N Gold (ML 15-1)
# 7 Class Won (ML 9-2)

C's

# 2 Snoose Sasa (ML 10-1)
# 3 R H Smoakem (ML 20-1)
# 5 Get the Bling (ML 30-1)
# 6 Renvyle (ML 20-1)
# 10 Judge Dixon (ML 10-1)

Scratch # 8 Jimbo's Biz (ML 12-1) and # 9 Lunar Light (ML 5-2)

Note that the claiming price is $6.25k for Oklahoma breds; or, at least, it would be if any Oklahoma breds had entered.

Long Station should benefit from the class relief that he is getting here.  Count N Gold took the Show at this class level last time out while disappointing as the Post Time Favorite.  Note that Count N Gold is also going first off the claim for Trainer Stetson Mitchell, who tends to do well with such.

Class Won drops down on the class ladder after disappointing last time out as the Post Time Favorite.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

RACE 8 - (F) [S] MSW - Six Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 10 Polly Tiz (ML 4-5)

B's

# 4 Okie Logic (ML 12-1)

C's

# 1 Seeing Double (ML 30-1)
# 3 Heighten (ML 20-1)

# 5 Maria Elena Y. G (ML 5-1)
# 6 Special Treasure (ML 12-1)
# 7 Spirited Lady (ML 30-1)
# 8 Vantabulous (ML 20-1)
# 9 Zapit (ML 30-1)
# 12 Charming Diva (ML 8-1)

Scratch # 2 Do you Bileve (ML 8-1) and # 11 Check My Shades (ML 30-1)

Polly Tiz has taken the Place at the this class level in each of her last two starts.  Okie Logic is a first time starter for Trainer Mike Biehler, who really doesn't win much with debut runners.  But Okie Logic had a nice five furlong work over this track last Saturday, and Okie Logic is sired by 2013 Preakness winner Oxbow, and her mare won multiple times; so, maybe.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 9 - (F) Clm $15k N3L - Eight Furlongs Turf

A’s

# 10 Fancy Fox (ML 8-5)

B’s

# 1 Gone Awry (ML 12-1)
# 2 Beryl's Flight (ML 5-2)
# 4 Northern Dynasty (ML 8-1)
# 5 Sarala (ML 4-1)

C's

# 3 My Coyn (ML 20-1)
# 6 Goldie Again (ML 20-1)
# 7 Smashbox (ML 30-1)

Scratch # 8 Turn a Deaf Ear (ML 15-1) and # 9 Whiz City (ML 30-1)

Note that the claiming price for Oklahoma bred runners in this race is $20k.  The Oklahoma bred entrants that you would have to pay an extra $5k to own are: My Coyn; Northern Dynasty; Sarala; and Smashbox.

Fancy Fox ships in for Trainer Bret Calhoun, and she's getting some serious class relief here.  But Fancy Fox is routing for the first time here, as well as putting the blinkers on for the first time; so there is some room for caution here.

Gone Awry didn't show much in either of her two prior turf starts; but perhaps the added distance will make a difference.  Beryl's Flight took the Place at this class level two starts back.  Northern Dynasty seems to have the breeding to handle the move to the turf.

Sarala looked much improved last time out with the blinkers going back on.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 1 with 4 with 10 with 10 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,5 with 1,4,7 with 4,10 with 1,2,4,5,10 $30.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2,4,6,7,8 with 4 with 10 with 10 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 1 with 2,3,5,6,10 with 10 with 10 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 1 with 4 with 1,3,5,6,7,8,9,12 with 10 $4.00
$0.50 P4: 1 with 4 with 10 with 3,6,7 $1.50

Total: $41.50

Post Time for Race 6 is 10:27 EDT / 7:27 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
