10/26/19 Remington Park Primetime Pick Four - Preview

Can you believe it?  Day One of the Breeders' Cup is less than a week away!  So this will be my last shot at increasing my bankroll prior to that event.  Also, a programming note of sorts: Good Lord willing, this space will be focused on the Breeders' Cup next Friday and Saturday.  However, those of you who plan on also (or only) playing Remington Park those two days, please be aware that, while Friday's card (featuring the $100k Clever Trevor Stakes for two year olds) will begin at its usual time of 8:00 EDT / 5 PDT, Post Time Saturday, November 2, has been moved up to 2:30 EDT / 11:30 PDT.  So with all that let's get to it, as I take another run at The Primetime Pick Four at Remington Park.

RACE 6 - [S] MSW - Six and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 1 D C Hero (Morning Line 6-1)

B's

# 3 Eurobadguy (ML 4-5)
# 8 What Thinking (ML 8-1)

C's

# 2 Play a Trump (ML 20-1)
# 4 Back Episode (ML 6-1)

# 5 Friendly Freddy (ML 30-1)
# 6 Delta Surprise (ML 15-1)

# 7 Elijah Anet (ML 4-1)

Eurobadguy failed to make it into the Trifecta last time out at this class level while leaving the gate as the 9-10 Post Time Favorite.  That marks the second time in his six race career that Eurobadguy failed to finish in the money as the Post Time Favorite.  Perhaps adding the hood today will make a difference; but I'm not convinced.  So even though Eurobadguy looks best here, and is in my opinion too good to leave completely off the main ticket, I decided to go elsewhere for the top spot.

D C Hero is a debut runner who shows a nice, steady work tab since August.  The rail has been playing well at Remington Park this meet, which should offset any fears about a first time starter having to compete from the innermost post.

So D C Hero will be the "A" Selection in my play, over Eurobadguy.  Add What Thinking, who took the Place at this class level last time out, to the main ticket; while all others will be used as backup "C" Selections.

RACE 7 - MSW - Six and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 4 Tap Attack (ML 9-5)

B's

# 2 Medal Maker (ML 15-1)
# 3 Muni Muni Slew (ML 9-2)
# 5 Algebra (ML 5-1)

C's

# 6 Derby Dog (ML 30-1)
# 7 Alternate Time (ML 6-1)
# 8 Aces Prince (ML 10-1)
# 9 Bandy's Map (ML 12-1)
# 10 Peekers Popeye (ML 30-1)
# 11 Rock City Rocket (ML 30-1)
# 12 Cintarosa (ML 30-1)

Scratch # 1 Liam (ML 8-1)

Tap Attack has finished in the Trifecta at this class level in each of his two career starts for Trainer Steve Asmussen.  Medal Maker took the Place at this class level the last time he only had to go around one turn.

Algebra and Mun Muni Slew filled out the bottom two slots of the Trifecta at this class level last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are the rest of the field.

RACE 8 - ALW N2X - Eight Furlongs Turf
EDIT - This Race Has Been Taken Off The Turf

A's

# 5 Valentine Street (ML 9-2)

B's

# 3 Bo Tee (ML 8-1)

C's

# 1 Most Mischief (ML 15-1)
# 2 Majestic Sign (ML 12-1)

# 4 Acosta (ML 15-1)
# 7 Fine Mate (ML 15-1)
# 9 Yeowzer (ML 20-1)
# 10 Easter Snap (ML 5-1)

Scratch # 8 Spiritual Warfare (ML 6-1); # 11 Theoryintopractice (ML 2-1); and # 12 He's No Saint (ML 15-1); # 6 Attentive (ML 20-1)

On the turf, Theoryintopractice looks much the best here.  Off the turf, Theoryintopractice, with six wins on dirt, still looks best; maybe not much the best, but best enough.  So either way, Theoryintopractice is my big ticket single; with all others being used as backup "C" Selections.

EDIT - Well, this race has been taken off the turf, and Theoryintopractice has been scratched.  So back to work.

Valentine Street could be quickest here.  Bo Tee has finished in the Exacta in half his dirt track starts.  Attentive ran well in his last dirt race two starts back.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

EDIT 2 - And now Attentive has been scratched.  The play and cost have been updated below.

RACE 9 - (F) Clm $5k B - Five and a Half Furlongs Dirt

A’s

# 3 Willtheresaway (ML 7-2)

B's

# 4 Gorgeouswitha G (ML 3-1)
# 5 Brenda's Fever (ML 5-2)
# 11 Lil Miss de Buy (ML 12-1)

C's

# 1 Maryblueeyes (ML 20-1)
# 2 Sizzle Factor (ML 30-1)

# 6 Blum Blim (ML 50-1)
# 7 Frigidish (ML 8-1)
# 8 Hey Roxy (ML 30-1)

# 9 Spell Winder (ML 30-1)
# 10 Assembled Lady (ML 10-1)
# 12 Cat's Eternalflame (ML 8-1)

This contest is restricted to fillies and mares which have either:

1) Not won a race since July 26, 2019; OR
2) Which have never won four races.

So as long as a filly or mare has fewer than four career Wins, then she's eligible to run in this race.  If a distaff runner has four career Wins or more, then none of those Wins could have come in the last three months (note that races where the runner was entered for $4k or less don't count).  For the record Willtheresaway, Georgeouswitha G, Hey Roxy, and Lil Miss de Buy are the four runners in this field with fewer than four career Wins.  And, as per usual at Remington Park, Oklahoma breds cost more; or, at least, they would if there were any running in this contest.

Willtheresaway seemed to wake up last time out with the drop in class.  Georgeouswitha G has been in the Exacta in each of her last three dirt tack starts.  Brenda's Fever is getting some much needed class relief here.

Lil Miss de Buy took the Place at this class level last time out.  The backup "C" Selections are everyone else.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing my tickets in modified Crist fashion, I get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 1 with 4 with 5 with 3 $1.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 1,3,8 with 2,3,4,5 with 3,5 with 3,4,5,11 $48.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 2,4,5,6,7 with 4 with 5 with 3 $2.50
$0.50 P4: 1 with 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 with 5 with 3 $3.50
$0.50 P4: 1 with 4 with 1,2,4,7,9,10 with 3 $3.00
$0.50 P4: 1 with 4 with 5 with 1,2,6,7,8,9,10,12 $4.00

Total: $62.00

Post Time for Race 6 is 10:27 EDT / 7:27 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
