2/9/13 GG R4 - Horse Watch Follow-Up

City Chapel, the longshot claim by Trainer / Owner Victor Trujillo that we've been following, made his eight start for the Trujillo barn Saturday at Golden Gate.  The four year old gelding faced the same class level as his prior start (Claiming $6250 Non-Winners of Two Lifetime), but at the sprinter's distance of six furlongs on the synthetic main track.

City Chapel (Final Odds 11.4-1) broke last in the field of seven, was still last at the half, and, to quote the chart caller, "was gaining but too late."  City Chapel's effort was good enough for third place, paying $4.00 to Show.  City Chapel's in the money finish was also worth $1350 in purse money, bringing his total earnings under Trujillo to $10,275.

So City Chapel again shows his ability to be competitive while staunchly avoiding the Winner's Circle.  The profit he brings to his current connections since being claimed for $4,000 last August continues to grow; yet he still hasn't achieved that second career victory (and first for Trujillo).

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
