Hoffenheim, last a winner in 2016, was able to make it to the post only twice in 2017, losing those two contests to two rivals that he faced at Santa Anita on Sunday, # 2 Top of the Game (2.10*) and # 5 Ike Walker (4.20). However, since being claimed by Trainer David Jacobson, Hoffenheim has shown steady improvement in his 2018 outings, culminating in his victory Sunday by three lengths; and it was my failure to predict Hoffenheim's continual improvement that made Sunday a day for me to contribute instead of collect.
Oh well; onto the next race.
