3/12/17 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

Welcome to Daylight Saving Time!  Hopefully you've made it everywhere that you needed to be on time today, including the Post Time for whichever race you were hoping to begin your play.  For us, that would be Race 4 at Golden Gate Fields, as we move our action back upstate and take another run at The Golden Pick Six at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 4 - (F) Md $8k - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Bolt Up (Morning Line 2-1)

B's

None

C's

# 1 Pridelander (ML 5-1)
# 2 Kadabadoo (ML 5-2)
# 6 Regil Girl (ML 3-1)

Bolt Up took the Place at this class level last time out and could benefit from the reduction in real estate.  Pridelander could be the one running best late.  Kadabadoo gets some much needed class relief.  Regil Girl, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, is being priced to sell after a significant layoff, but must be respected based upon the connections.

RACE 5 - MSW - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Georgia Blue (ML 7-5)

B's

# 1 Uber Star (ML 2-1)
# 3 Engram (ML 6-1)

C's

# 2 General Strelnikov (ML 10-1)
# 5 Lucky Patrick (ML 10-1)
# 6 Pageau (ML 9-2)

Uber Star and Engram took the Place and Show, respectively, at this class level back in February.  Georgia Blue ships in from downstate to try the synthetic surface for the first time.  If Georgia Blue takes to the new footing she (yes, she) wins; but since she's had no local public workout, there's no way to be sure that she will like the change.

The "C" Selections are everyone else.  I don't see this as a chaos race, but with the questions regarding the surface hovering over the Morning Line Favorite, I thought it best to get all the coverage that I could.

RACE 6 - Alw 40000s N2L - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 1 Jimmy the Juice (ML 2-1)
# 6 John Paul's Bet (ML 9-5)

B’s

None

C's

# 3 Village Kitten (ML 4-1)
# 5 Architop (ML 9-2)

Note for future reference that this one is for horses which have not won two races in their career; but with one exemption, as runners get a pass for having one (and just one) win against winners, provided that win was for $16k or less.  # 2 Post Rock (ML 10-1) and Architop are the two runners in this field with just one Win; all others entered have visited the Winner's Circle twice in their career.

Jimmy the Juice projects to be the one to catch, provided that he takes to the new surroundings.  John Paul's Bet has finished out of the Trifecta just once since shipping in from Emerald Downs.

Village Kitten has proven that he can contend under these conditions; now he just has to find his way to the Winner's Circle.  Architop has finished in the Trifecta each of the two times that he has competed over this main track.

RACE 7 - Clm $12.5k N2L - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Merle (ML 8-1)
# 7 Academic Code (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 3 Seattle Windy (ML 5-1)
# 4 Radar Jammin (ML 7-2)

C's

# 1 Spot N the Line (ML 3-1)

Merle returns from an extended leave of absence; Trainer Debbie Winick has done well with such.  Merle will also be returning to his preferred surface.  Academic Code has done well under these conditions, including hitting the board against a few next out winners, suggesting that Academic Code may finally win by war of attrition.

Seattle Windy and Radar Jammin are both trying winners for the first time after graduating by daylight last time out.  Spot N the Line fits well here, but has been settling for too many minor awards to put in the top spot.

RACE 8 - ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 7 Sudden Sam (ML 7-2)
# 8 Mi Bouchon (ML 5-2)

B's

# 1 Squidward (ML 10-1)
# 5 Pulmarack (ML 3-1)

C's

None

Sudden Sam looks to be quickest in this field, provided that he takes to the surface switch.  Mi Bouchon ran out of gas while taking the scenic route to the wire last time out, after winning under these conditions two starts back.  Squidward returns from a six month vacation; if he's in shape, he fits well here.  Pulmarack took the Show at this class level last time out.

RACE 9 - MSW - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Pacific Surf (ML 2-1)

B's

# 9 Larrikin (ML 8-1)

C's

# 1 Night's Watch (ML 6-1)

Pacific Surf ships in from downstate for Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, and should benefit from the cutback in distance.  Larrikin ran well in his debut last time out, once he figured out that there was a race going on and that he was in it.  Night's Watch could improve with the move to two turn racing.

OK, that's the analysis.  While this is a jackpot wager, we won't be putting all our selections on one ticket.  While we still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of our lives, budgetary constraints must be respected.  I think it's also safe to presume that our "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket, so we should be safe in pressing those up.  So with all that, playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 4 with 4 with 1,6 with 6,7 with 7,8 with 4 $8.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: 4 with 1,3,4 with 1,6 with 3,4,6,7 with 1,5,7,8 with 4,9 $38.40

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 1,2,6 with 4 with 1,6 with 6,7 with 7,8 with 4 $4.80
$0.20 P6: 4 with 2,5,6 with 1,6 with 6,7 with 7,8 with 4 $4.80
$0.20 P6: 4 with 4 with 3,5 with 6,7 with 7,8 with 4 $1.60
$0.20 P6: 4 with 4 with 1,6 with 1 with 7,8 with 4 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 4 with 4 with 1,6 with 6,7 with 7,8 with 1 $1.60

Total: $60.00

Post Time for Race 4 is 5:18 EDT / 2:18 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
