3/16/17 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

I found myself with some extra time on this St Patrick's Day Eve; and while I will be keeping an eye on the NCAA Tournament, for me there's no better pastime than watching thoroughbreds do their thing.  So let's get to it, as we take another run at The Golden Pick Six at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 2 - (F) Clm $8k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Crown On Tap (Morning Line 3-1)

B’s

# 1 Constant Craving (ML 5-2)
# 2 Ladiesablazin (ML 6-1)

# 3 Finish Wealthy (ML 4-1)
# 4 Silver Beauty (ML 20-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 5 Karma Queen (ML 2-1)

This contest has the smell of one of those events where the runners each take turns defeating the others.  Crown On Tap, despite having lost by half a length to Constant Craving last time out, appears to be the best of the lot; but really, any one of these five is capable of having their picture taken once this race is run.

RACE 3 - Clm $20k N2X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 1 Mana Strike (ML 8-5)

B’s

None

C's

# 2 My Friend George (ML 8-1)
# 3 Bluegrass Bronco (ML 7-2)
# 4 Wings of the Wind (ML 2-1)

Mana Strike took the Show last time out against much classier competition.  Wings of the Wind took the Place at this class level last time out (albeit for a different barn) with My Friend George grabbing the Show behind him.  Bluegrass Bronco ships in from downstate to try the synthetic for the first time.  If Bluegrass Bronco takes to the surface, then he could be the one that they'll have to catch to win.

RACE 4 - (F) Md $8k - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 5 Keihl Crissia (ML 2-1)

B's

# 2 Wildcard Deb (ML 4-1)

C's

# 3 First Sicilian (ML 5-2)
# 6 Secret Agent Girl (ML 7-2)
# 7 Lady of Fire (ML 12-1)

Keihl Crissia took the Place at this approximate class level two starts back (yes, I know it was actually for a higher claiming price; but trust me, with all the class droppers in today's race, that contest earlier this month ranks about equal with this event).  Wildcard Deb showed some earlier quickness in her second career start last time out, and might have it all figured out today.

First Sicilian fits well with the contenders here, but appears to be on the wrong surface.  Secret Agent Girl might wake up with the relocation from downstate.  Lady of Fire has shown talent at this level, but, like First Sicilian, doesn't seem well suited to the synthetic.

RACE 5 - Clm $12.5k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 1 Soul Prince (ML 5-2)
# 6 Loma Cat (ML 4-1)

B’s

# 4 Smoking Forty Five (ML 8-1)
# 5 Dixie Pistol (ML 6-5)

C's

None

Soul Prince took the Place at this class level last time out, and now goes first off the claim for Trainer Jonathan Wong, who tends to do well with such.  Loma Cat graduated by daylight last time out, and might have finally figured it out.

Smoking Forty Five looks to be the one that will be running best late.  Dixie Pistol projects to be part of the early pace, and could steal this one on the front end.

RACE 6 - OC 62k/N2X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Pure Comedy (ML 6-1)

B’s

# 1 Top Pirana (ML 5-2)

C's

# 4 Marino's Wild Cat (ML 12-1)
# 5 Mah Gellin (ML 6-1)
# 6 Westley (ML 2-1)

Pure Comedy was victorious at this level two starts back, with Top Pirana taking the Place behind him.  Marino's Wild Cat projects to be the one to know early.  Mah Gellin looks to improve going second off the freshening.  Westley looked good in each of his last two starts; but that was with a lot of things going his way.

RACE 7 - Clm $6.25k B - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 5 Opsec (ML 6-1)

B's

# 1 Nahem (ML 6-1)
# 3 Floating Feather (ML 5-2)

C's

# 7 Ace Deuce (ML 6-1)

This contest is restricted to runners which have either:

1) Not won a race in 2017; OR
2) Which have never won four races.

So as long as a horse has fewer than four career Wins, he's eligible to run in this race.  If a horse has four career Wins or more, than none of those Wins could have been this year in order for the horse to be entered here.  For the record, # 4 Zorrito (ML 5-1) and # 8 The Gray Hound (ML 12-1) are the only two runners here with fewer than four career Wins.

Opsec ran well off the freshening last time out, and could improve off that effort.  Nahem finished in the Trifecta at this class level two and three starts back.  Floating Feather and Ace Deuce each disappointed as the Post Time Favorite in their respective last out contests, both at this class level.

OK, that's the analysis.  While this is a jackpot wager, we won't be putting all our selections on one ticket.  While we still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of our lives, budgetary constraints must be respected.  I think it's also safe to presume that our "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket, so we should be safe in pressing those up.  So with all that, playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 6 with 1 with 5 with 1,6 with 2 with 5 $2.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: ALL with 1 with 2,5 with 1,4,5,6 with 1,2 with 1,3,5 $48.00

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 6 with 2,3,4 with 5 with 1,6 with 2 with 5 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 6 with 1 with 3,6,7 with 1,6 with 2 with 5 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 6 with 1 with 5 with 1,6 with 4,5,6 with 5 $1.20
$0.20 P6: 6 with 1 with 5 with 1,6 with 2 with 7 $0.40

Total: $54.00

Post Time for Race 2 is 4:15 EDT / 1:15 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
