Race 7 - The San Antonio - # 5 Hoppertunity (1.90*) - "C" Selection
Race 8 - The San Marcos - # 7 Flamboyant (2.80) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 7 Ten Blessings (3.10) - "B" Selection
We recognized Hoppertunity and # 7 Imperative (3.70) as the two most talented runners in the field; but we also recognized that they had each gotten into the habit of running just well enough to not win. But, unfortunately for us, when they collectively passed # 2 Donworth (4.10) in the final furlong and hit the wire together in The San Antonio only one of them could lose; and while Hopperturnity's win didn't immediately kill our tickets, our failure to use him more prominently made this a day for us to contribute instead of cash.
Oh well; onto the next race.
For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the two runners to which we were alive in the finale:
# 1 Storm the Shore (9.30) - $574.25 Finish: 6th
# 12 Seventh Sense (Tur) (1.10*) - $208.25 Finish: 8th
But such was not to be.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of 6 / 5 / 7 / 7 were rewarded with a payout of $374.30 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
