2/7/16 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 5 - # 3 China Girl Lover (Final Odds 4.50) - "B" Selection
Race 6 - The Palos Verdes - # 1 Kobe's Back (2.50) - "A" Selection
Race 7 - # 6 Patentar (Fr) (8.60) - "A" Selection
Race 8 - # 11 Mad Mango (1.80*) - "A" Selection

We thought that the addition of blinkers would result in Kobe's Back being more forwardly placed in the early going.  And we were right, as Kobe's Back was just a mere ten and a half lengths back after the first quarter and eight lengths back at the half; which, while effectively making Kobe's Back sixth in a field of five in the early going, is closer to the leader than Kobe's Back had been at those points in most of his more recent races.  Anyway, it's not where you start but where you finish, and Kobe's Back proved himself to be the best in the Palos Verdes, crossing the line a half length in front of Post Time Favorite # 2 Salutos Amigos (1.40*), a result which no doubt helped enrich today's payout.

For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the other runners to which we were alive in the finale:

# 3 Dream Navigator (10.00) - $2015.20 Finish: 8th
# 12 Darling Grace (2.40) - $569.30 Finish: 3rd

But that's what might have been.  The actual winning Pick Four sequence of 3 / 1 / 6 / 11 paid $396.80 for a fifty cent wager.  That makes for a profit of $331.80 on our $65.00 investment, or approximate odds of 5.10-1.

I hope you all had it with me.  May God bless us as we spend our winnings.

Onto the next race!

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
