As it turns out, buying the finale, while perhaps good for our blood pressure, was not the wisest move to be made; for had we stuck with just our "A" Selections on our big ticket, our reduced outlay would have moved our play into the profit column.
For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the other six runners to which we were alive in the finale:

But that's what might have been. What actually came to be was a correct Pick Four sequence of 5 / 4 / 5 / 1 which paid $62.80 for a fifty cent wager. Since our investment was $65.00, we cash at a loss; and while that definitely beats not cashing at all, as well as beating the paltry amount that we would have collected had Beantown Boys not decided to bounce off the rail while comfortably ahead in the stretch, it certainly wasn’t what we had in mind when we placed our wagers.
Oh well; onto the next race.
