Sunday's card at Del Mar contains a pair of Graded Stakes on the grass. One, the Grade 2 John C Mabee, will go as Race 6 on the card, putting it outside out purview. But we will be looking at the other, the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby, as we take another run at The Pick Four at The Place Where The Turf Meets The Surf.

These are juveniles, with only one experienced runner in the field: # 5 Camino de Estrella (ML 4-1). Camino de Estrella, in my opinion, didn't show enough in his debut last time out to warrant a spot on our tickets. So if Camino de Estrella wins today, we lose.
Roosevelt and Red Kite are the Baffert and the "other" Baffert, respectively. Big Hit and Troublewithatee are trained by Phil D'Amato. Wheresthemoneyjack was sired by Union Rags, whose offspring are proving to be precocious. Bobby G is trained by Doug O'Neill.

Free Rose, Lucky Bryan, Moonlight Drive (Itl), and Monster Bea, in that order, filled out the Superfacta in the Grade 3 La Jolla last time out. Blackjackcat won by daylight in a first level Allowance race last time out on this turf course, defeating, among others, next out winners Hobbits Hero and Free Rose.
Mr. Roary and Dressed in Hermes were also-rans in The La Jolla; but Mr. Roary may be able to get loose early, while Dressed in Hermes could be the one running best late.

Ten Blessings returns from an extended layoff for Trainer Bob Baffert after winning his debut by daylight. Pulmarack took the Place at this class level last time out.

Kennedie Sky deserves another chance at this level after the troubled trip she had last time out. The Spiral Jetter and Cuddle Alert both acquitted themselves well in their only respective prior tries on the grass. Cordiality, out of an Unusual Heat mare, tries the turf for the first time.
X S Heat and Warm Endowment are each trying winners for the first time. Almost Reality may be the most talented runner in this field; but Almost Reality settles for too many minor awards. Run Like the Boss stretches out after missing victory at this class level by just a length two starts back.
