2/12/17 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” - Abraham Lincoln

As I don't have anything of substance to add to the above quote on this, the anniversary of the birth of the sixteenth President of the United States, let's just get to it, as we take another run at The Golden Pick Six at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 4 - Alw 4000s - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Papa George (Morning Line 6-5)

B’s

None

C's

# 1 Saint Adalbert (ML 2-1)
# 4 Preacher's Bluff (ML 3-1)

Note that, unlike most Stater Allowances run in the state of California, there is no career Win restriction for entry into this contest.  Any runner four years old and upward that has started for a claiming price of $4k or less last year or this year is eligible to enter.

Papa George looks almost like a ringer in this field, his only defeat in five career contests coming last time out when he took the Place against much stiffer competition than he will be facing here.  Saint Adalbert was victorious at this class level last time out, with Preacher's Bluff taking the Place a length and a quarter behind him.

RACE 5 - (F) Md $12.5k - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 5 Hillside Queen (ML 7-2)

B's

# 3 Miss Show Stopper (ML 5-2)
# 4 Keihl Crissia (ML 2-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 2 Jesstastic (ML 6-1)

Miss Show Stopper is a first time starter sired by Hold Me Back, whose progeny tend to do well at first asking.  Keihl Crissia looks to be the best of the experienced runners here, but Keihl Crissia's inability to finish in the Trifecta in her two prior tries at this class level is troubling.  Hillside Queen, who disappointed as the Post Time Favorite at this class level last time out, projects to be the quickest early; even more so today as Hillside Queen will be donning the hood for the first time.

RACE 6 - Clm $12.5k N2X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 5 Baruch (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 1 Rainbow North (ML 3-1)

C's

# 3 Mojo Street (ML 8-5)
# 4 Motoring Around (ML 4-1)

Baruch won at this class level two starts back, with Motoring Around taking the Place behind him.  Last time out Baruch faced much stiffer competition in the form of open $16k claimers, and was not embarrassed.

Rainbow North gets some class relief and could be speed on the rail.  Mojo Street enters this contest with a two race winning streak, albeit against much weaker competition.

RACE 7 - Md $8k - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Pop Pop's Pizza (ML 4-1)
# 7 Hopesky (ML 8-5)

B's

None

C's

# 4 Silver Chrome (ML 3-1)

Pop Pop's Pizza ships in from downstate, where he has four times taken the Place against more expensive stock.  Pop Pop's Pizza will be going first time for the barn of Trainer Steve Miyadi, who tends to do well with such.

Hopesky missed graduation by just a neck last time out at this class level.  Silver Chrome has finished in the Trifecta at this class level in two of his last three races, and will be trying to prove today that the eighteenth time is the charm.

RACE 8 - Clm $25k - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Incline Village (ML 7-5)
# 5 Holdthismiss (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 1 Midnight Destiny (ML 10-1)
# 3 Native Treasure (ML 5-1)

C's

None

Incline Village defeated classier competition by daylight last time out; though the drop in for a tag after such an effort is a concern.  Holdthismiss drops in class while returning from a six month vacation; but the bullet workouts that Holdthismiss has been posting suggests that he'll be ready to fire today.

Midnight Destiny misses by less than a length of entering this contest with a three race winning streak, albeit against weaker opposition.  Native Treasure took the Place at this class level last time out.

RACE 9 - MSW - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 3 J C's Nightcap (ML 7-2)

B's

# 5 Pamper Me Now (ML 2-1)
# 6 Crawford's Glove (ML 3-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 4 Silken Chief (ML 6-1)

J C's Nightcap has twice finished in the Trifecta at this class level.  Note also that J C's Nightcap tends to improve in his second start off the layoff line.  Pamper Me Now and Crawford's Glove are both making their second career start, and could improve with the experience.

OK, that's the analysis.  While this is a jackpot wager, we won't be putting all our selections on one ticket.  While we still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of our lives, budgetary constraints must be respected.  I think it's also safe to presume that our "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket, so we should be safe in pressing those up.  So with that, playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 2 with 5 with 5 with 2,7 with 4,5 with 3 $4.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: 2 with 3,4,5 with 1,5 with 2,7 with 1,3,4,5 with 3,5,6 $28.80

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 1,4 with 5 with 5 with 2,7 with 4,5 with 3 $1.60
$0.20 P6: 2 with 5 with 3,4 with 2,7 with 4,5 with 3 $1.60
$0.20 P6: 2 with 5 with 5 with 4 with 4,5 with 3 $0.40

Total: $36.40

Post Time for Race 4 is 5:14 EDT / 2:14 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
