2/25/17 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

We've come to the final Saturday in February; and that's all I've got by way of introduction.  So let's just get to it, as we take another run at The Golden Pick Six at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 4 - (F) Alw 40000s N2L - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 3 Karma Queen (Morning Line 5-2)
# 4 Dumont (ML 2-1)

B’s

# 1 Constant Craving (ML 15-1)
# 2 Everybody Does It (ML 9-5)

# 5 Thissideofheaven (ML 6-1)
# 6 Belle de France (ML 10-1)

C's

None

Note for future reference that this one is for horses which have not won two races in their career; but with one exemption, as runners get a pass for having one (and just one) win against winners, provided that win was for $16k or less.

The entire field for this event exits the same last out contest, where Dumont crossed under the wire a neck in front of Karma Queen.  Interestingly enough, the Morning Line Favorite for this race is Everybody Does It, who disappointed as the Post Time Favorite in that last out affair, taking the Show a little over a length behind Dumont.

In my opinion, there are two ways to use this leg of the sequence in our play: either presume that the top two finishers will repeat their efforts, and therefore just go two deep; or treat this like a deck of cards that has been reshuffled, where anything can happen this time around.  The reason why I have chosen the latter option is because I don't think any of the top finishers last time out proved themselves to be a true standout from the rest of the field; so the "ALL" button it is.

RACE 5 - Md $16k - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Secret Prana (ML 5-2)

B's

# 3 Phenomena (ML 9-2)

C's

# 1 If Ur Not Early (ML 6-1)
# 7 Loma Cat (ML 6-1)

Scratch # 2 Become an Insider (ML 2-1)

Secret Prana drops in for a tag for the first time in his career.  Phenomena took the Place against more expensive stock last time out.  If Ur Not Early ships in from downstate, and could move up with the class drop.  Loma Cat projects to be the one that they'll have to catch.

RACE 6 - Clm $40k - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 4 Administer (ML 2-1)

B’s

# 3 Awesome Silver (ML 5-2)

C's

None

Administer won at this level last time out, and will try to do it again with an additional four pounds on his back.  Awesome Silver was a multi-time winner at this class level in 2016.

RACE 7 - Clm $3.2k N2Y - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Mandala (ML 3-1)

B’s

# 3 Jury (ML 6-1)

C's

# 2 Man From Lagos (ML 7-2)
# 7 Weirdhaircut Seth (ML 5-2)

As long as you haven't won two races since New Year's Day 2016 (excepting maiden, claiming, and starter races for $2.5k or less; they don't count, so you could've won as many of those as you wanted) you're good to go under these conditions.

Mandala just missed by a nose at this class level last time out, with Man From Lagos crossing under the wire about three quarters of a length behind.  Jury, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, took the Place at this class level three starts back.  Weirdhaircut Seth quit early last time out; hard to tell if that's an anomaly, or a sign that Weirdhaircut Seth needs to spend some time on the sidelines.

RACE 8 - OC 32k/N1X - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 6 Eagle Screams (ML 2-1)

B’s

# 2 Taelyns Prince (ML 9-2)
# 5 Street Lad (ML 6-1)

C's

# 8 Donji (ML 7-2)

Eagle Screams disappointed as the Post Time Favorite at this class level last time out, taking the Place a head behind the winner, with Taelyns Prince grabbing the Show behind him, and Donji completing the Superfecta.  Street Lad is the new shooter here, facing winners for the first time after winning by the length of the stretch last time out in his first try around two turns.

RACE 9 - Md $12.5k - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 8 Spanish Eyes (ML 9-5)

B's

# 4 The Dandy Man Can (ML 2-1)

C's

# 3 Al's Harley (ML 15-1)

Spanish Eyes crossed under the wire first at this class level last time out, but was DQ'd back to third, behind The Dandy Man Can, who was moved up to second.  On paper, it looks like Spanish Eyes is the one that they'll have to catch.  Al's Harley was the pace setter last time out and ran out of gas; if Al's Harley can be taken back in the early going, he may be able to pull off the upset late.

OK, that's the analysis.  While this is a jackpot wager, we won't be putting all our selections on one ticket.  While we still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of our lives, budgetary constraints must be respected.  I think it's also safe to presume that our "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket, so we should be safe in pressing those up.  So with that, playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 3,4 with 4 with 4 with 6 with 6 with 8 $2.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: ALL with 3,4 with 3,4 with 3,6 with 2,5,6 with 4,8 $57.60

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 3,4 with 1,7 with 4 with 6 with 6 with 8 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3,4 with 4 with 4 with 2,7 with 6 with 8 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3,4 with 4 with 4 with 6 with 8 with 8 $0.40
$0.20 P6: 3,4 with 4 with 4 with 6 with 6 with 3 $0.40

Total: $62.00

Post Time for Race 4 is 5:14 EDT / 2:14 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
