2/19/17 Golden Gate Fields Late Pick Four - Preview

The Golden Pick Six being hit Saturday on El Camino Real Derby Day makes for a nice excuse for us to ease off the throttle a bit, as it'll take a few cards before there's a jackpot of which to dream.  So let's cut two from view and focus just on the final four events on the card today, as we take a run at The Late Pick Four at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 6 - ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 7 Mi Bouchon (ML 7-2)

B's

# 3 Mr Kerry Hara (ML 10-1)

C's

# 1 Letithappen (ML 3-1)
# 6 Brownie Finale (ML 6-1)

Races 6 and 8 are two divisions of the same contest, both carded with identical conditions and distance.

Mi Bouchon won under these conditions last time out, and gets to compete in this class again thanks to being a California bred runner.  Letithappen moves up the moves up the class ladder after defeating open $40k Claimers last time out.  The conditioners for Mi Bouchon and Letithappen (Bill Delia and Jeff Bonde, respectively) tend to do well when placing their last out runners.

Mr Kerry Hara tries winners for the first time after winning by daylight last time out.  The concern with Mr Kerry Hara is that last time out was back in September.  Brownie Finale got caught in a speed duel last time out, and could move up if he can relax early, as he has in the past.

RACE 7 - Alw 40000s N2X - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 1 Code for Glory (ML 7-2)
# 4 Macho Marini (ML 8-5)

B’s

# 3 Boleo (ML 12-1)

C's

# 6 We Own the Night (ML 6-1)

Note for future reference that this one is for horses which have not won two races in their career; but with an exception (N2X) as runners get a pass for having one win against winners, provided that win was for $16k or less.

Code for Glory took the Place at this class level both two and three starts back, each time crossing under the wire within a length of the winner.  Macho Marini took the Place while disappointing as the Post Time Favorite at this class level last time out.

Boleo could be the one running best late if it all falls apart on the front end.  We Own the Night goes first time for the barn of Trainer Jonathan Wong, who tends to do well with such.

RACE 8 - ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 2 I'm Lock N Load (ML 9-2)

B's

# 1 Westley (ML 4-1)
# 6 Pulmarack (ML 3-1)

C's

None

Scratch # 5 An Khe Pass (ML 10-1)

Races 6 and 8 are two divisions of the same contest, both carded with identical conditions and distance.

I'm Lock N Load took the Place at this class level two starts back.  I'm Lock N Load could move up with the addition of blinkers, as Trainer Bill Delia tends to do well with such, and there isn't much in the way of early speed in this contest.

Westley took the Place at this class level last time out.  Pulmarack took the Show at this class level two starts back.  Pulmarack lost all chance at the start last time out, when he got squeezed coming out of the gate.

RACE 9 - Clm $4k B - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Trelawny (ML 9-2)
# 5 Pazmeifucan (ML 5-2)
# 8 Rock 'n On Home (ML 7-2)

B's

# 1 Peppered Pro (ML 20-1)
# 3 Sharp Hooq (ML 10-1)
# 4 Little Jack (ML 4-1)
# 6 Unbridled Fire (ML 15-1)
# 7 Dayjur Hooq (ML 9-2)

C's

None

This contest is restricted to runners which have either:

1) Not won a race since December 1, 2016; OR
2) Which have never won four races.

Excepting claiming and starter races for $3.5k or less; they don't count.

So as long as a horse has fewer than four career Wins, he's eligible to run in this race.  If a horse has four career Wins or more, than none of those Wins could have been since 12/1/2016 in order for the horse to be entered here.

Trelawny defeated open $3.2k Claimers over this main track two starts back; and while today's claiming price is larger than that one, the fact that Trelawny's win came against open company rather than conditioned claimers makes this a step down on the class ladder.

Pazmeifucan two race experiment with the blinkers on is over, so he should move up just on that basis; but Pazmeifucan is also taking a big class drop today.  Rock 'n On Home showed good early speed against move expensive last time out.

The "B" Selections are everyone else.  We'll be punching the "ALL" Button on our big ticket for this contest, as this field seems to lack a clear standout, as well as attracting a larger than usual number of class droppers.  Good luck to those of you who will be chasing the Super High Five here.

OK, that's the analysis.  Playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P4: 7 with 1,4 with 2 with 2,5,8 $6.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.50 P4: 3,7 with 1,3,4 with 1,2,6 with ALL $72.00

A's with One C

$0.50 P4: 1,6 with 1,4 with 2 with 2,5,8 $6.00
$0.50 P4: 7 with 6 with 2 with 2,5,8 $1.50

Total: $85.50

Post Time for Race 6 is 6:15 EST / 3:15 PST.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
