1/20/14 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 6 - # 7 Macias (Final Odds 6.60) - "C" Selection
Race 7 - # 9 Wonderful Lie (17.20) - No Selection
Race 8 - # 4 Mr. Ornery (6.50) - No Selection
Race 9 - # 6 Grammy Times Six (9.50) - "C" Selection

Big Note (Ire) (9.70) came the closest to giving us an "A" Selection winner, leading the field all the way to the wire in Race 6 before losing by a neck to Macias.  Wonderful Lie is a perfect example as to how all race horses should be named, as she was sired by Bedford Falls and is out of Flying Alibi.  Mr. Ornery won in his first ever try charging down the hill, while Grammy Times Six made the point that one turn contests was where she belonged all along.

So we failed to get any of our ten "A" Selections home; indeed, in half the races we failed to get any selection home.  Still, it's hard to be too critical of our picks when chaos was the order of day.  How chaotic was Monday's Late Pick Four?  Not only did the Post Time Favorite fail to win any of the four legs; in none of the four legs was the Post Time Favorite even able to finish inside the Superfecta.  So when order has gone and chaos rules, there's little to do except shrug your shoulders and move on.  Or, to put it in more familiar terms:

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who played the correct Pick Four sequence of  7 / 9 / 4 / 6  were rewarded with a payout of $7,549.20 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
