1/4/14 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 6 - # 6 Sheza Smoke Screen (Final Odds 3.20) - "C" Selection
Race 7 - # 1 Appealing Tale (5.30) - "C" Selection
Race 8 - The San Gabriel - # 9 Jeranimo (1.30*) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 3 The Mad Hungarian (6.70) - "C" Selection

Today's Late Pick Four played out like an exercise in how to look like you're close to cashing when you're really not.  We had each of the four winners on our tickets; indeed, had we played our selections caveman style, we would have cashed (though it would have been a $150 outlay paying out at odds a little bit lower than a straight Win bet on Jeranimo).  We also had "A" selections take the Place in all four races; but none were really close to winning; except perhaps # 4 Divine Way (4.60) in Race 6, who couldn't hold the lead in the stretch and was defeated by half a length.

Anyway, "close but not really" pays the same as "really close" which pays the same as "not close at all"; so no matter what you call it, our Late Pick Four play results in a Net Loss of $60.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who played the correct Pick Four sequence of  6 / 1 / 9 / 3  were rewarded with a payout of $335.95 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
