Race 10 - The California Cup Derby - # 7 California Chrome (2.50) - "C" Selection
Nothing like having a hundred and thirty-two dollar horse blow up your tickets in the very first leg; though we did have the small (very small) consolation of having one of our "A" selections, # 14 Anniversary Kitty (6.40) take the Place. Likewise in the third leg, as we saw one of "A" selections, # 11 Stoney Fleece (10.50) take the Place behind the forty-four dollar winner, Wewinnin. But Place finishes don't count, and the net result is our Pick Four play goes down in flames.
Oh well; onto the next race.
So we fail to get a single "A" selection home; but so it goes on another wild day at Santa Anita, where there was not just one, not just two, but three winners on the card that paid more to Win than Wewinnin did in Race 9. Needless to say, there will be a double carryover in the Pick Six going into Sunday's card. Meanwhile, those who were fortunate enough to have played the correct Late Pick Four sequence of 2 / 10 / 6 / 7 were rewarded with a payout of $11,233.80 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
