Race 8 - # 4 Premier Steps (Ire) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 2 Goodbye Roselina - No Selection
Our single "A" in the opening leg, # 3 Nooten (3.60) seemed to have some difficulty negotiating the hill, and wound up sixth. Judy the Beauty laughed at our analysis questioning her chances today, winning by nearly five lengths over # 4 Heir Kitty (3.90).
For posterity's sake, the fifty cent Will Pays for the two horses to which we were alive:
# 4 Nueva Fortuna - $194.30
# 5 Swiss Peak - $86.90
The finale was pretty much over as soon as the gates opened, as Goodbye Roselina shot out to the lead and was never headed, winning by five and a half lengths. Swiss Peak (3.00*) tried to keep pace early but was done before they hit the stretch. Nueva Fortuna (9.40) was stalking Goodbye Roselina right up to the point where Nueva Fortuna forgot to turn left entering the stretch, nearly wiping out the eventual Place horse, # 3 Coast Starlight (5.40).
So again this weekend we find ourselves holding a Pick Four ticket with three winners on it; which, as you all know, pays just as much as a ticket with no winners.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Late Pick Four sequence of 1 / 3 / 4 / 2 were rewarded with a $136.00 payout for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
