That wasn't just bad; that was ugly.
However, in fairness to us, we did have "A" Selections taking the Place in each of the three legs that we missed; indeed, in two of those legs our losing margin was less than a half length. Combined. And our reasoning for leaving out the eventual winners in the legs we missed sure seemed, well, reasonable.
For example, Rich Tapestry was making his first career start on a fast dirt track, going up against not just one but two defending Breeders' Cup winners on a fast dirt track; specifically, this fast dirt track. And while Compulsive was coming off two Show finishes against unrestricted claimers, those two efforts had come on the Del Mar Polytrack. Compulsive had finished out of the money each of the two prior times that he had competed against winners on a fast dirt track; specifically, this fast dirt track.
But reasonable or not, the bottom line is that we whiffed on three of the four races. And that is not a formula for success.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of 3 / 2 / 4 / 12 were rewarded with a payout of $3,195.40 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
