Our play ended with the third leg, as having two "C" Selections in the sequence means that we're contributing and not collecting; but it also means that we got to enjoy The Distaff as fans; and what a race to enjoy, as # 1 Songbird (1.10*) and Beholder put on a stretch duel for the ages, culminating in one of the closest finishes in Breeders' Cup history. How close was it? This close. Just an absolutely superb contest between two great champions.
Oh, and not so co-incidentally, that finish meant that we were correct in our selection in the final leg, even if it was by the absolute slimmest of margins. It's just too bad that that wasn't enough to change our overall fortunes on the day.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of 13 / 8 / 3 / 8 were rewarded with a payout of $2,308.35 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
