Race 11 - The Cotillion - # 8 Untapable (0.50*) - "A" Selection
Race 12 - The Pennsylvania Derby - # 4 Bayern (3.50) - "C" Selection
If you're going to have a bad day, you might as well have all the bad that you can and just get it out of your system.
We thought The Alphabet Soup was a tough race to figure, so we punched the "ALL" button. Well the public had no problem figuring it out, as they bet the eventual winner down from third choice on the Morning Line to Post Time Favorite. We wasted money putting backup "C" Selections with the Un-Beatable, Un-Topable, Un-Etc., Etc, Etc, Untapable, while failing to heed the warning in our own comments that # 1 California Chrome (0.90*) needed a race, and therefore should not have been a single "A" Selection in the finale.
For the record, had California Chrome won, the $0.50 Pick 4 would have paid $51.35; as we would have had it twice, we would have collected $102.70. But such was not to be, as California Chrome didn't fire; and what we foresaw as the most likely scenario if such was to happen came to pass, as Bayern just kept on leading the pack right into the Winner's Circle, setting a new track record in the process.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of 5 / 1 / 8 / 4 were rewarded with a payout of $104.40 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
