4/1/17 Golden Gate Fields Golden Pick 6 - Preview

“I'd rather be a fool than afraid.” - A.D. Posey

With the jackpot carryover back into the five figure range, we turn our attention once again from The Late Pick Four to the longer sequence on the card.  So with that let's get to it, as we take another run at The Golden Pick Six at the place where the Bay comes to play.

RACE 4 - (F) Clm $20k N2X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 3 Mended (Morning Line 7-5)

B’s

None

C's

# 4 Our Clementine (ML 7-2)
# 6 Buttie (ML 10-1)

Mended is two-for-two since joining the barn of Trainer John Martin, who has been winning just about everything in sight as of late.  Our Clementine tries two turn racing for the first time, and it's reasonable to expect this daughter of Papa Clem to do well covering the increased real estate.  Buttie has finished in the Exacta in all four of her starts over this main track.

RACE 5 - (F) ALW N1X - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A's

# 7 Briartic Gal (ML 9-5)

B's

# 3 Calm the Sea (ML 3-1)
# 4 I'm Tough (ML 9-2)

C's

# 6 Amber Louise (ML 5-1)

Briartic Gal took the Place at this class level last time out.  Calm the Sea, trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, could get a nice stalking trip behind # 5 Pragmatical (ML 30-1).  I'm Tough won by daylight in her debut last time out.  Amber Louise, also trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, may have needed that last one off the freshening, where she had the lead in the stretch only to run out of gas.

RACE 6 - OC 62k/N2X - Eight and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 2 Rye Patch (ML 8-5)
# 4 Anythingscookin (ML 2-1)

B’s

# 5 Broken Up (ML 9-2)

C's

None

Rye Patch goes first off the claim for Trainer Bill Morey and could be lone speed here.  Anythingscookin has been victorious each of the four times in his career that he has competed at this class level.  The concern with Anythingscookin is that he may need a race coming off the bench.  Broken Up won by daylight last time out against a few others who are in this field.

RACE 7 - Clm $4k B - Five and a Half Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 1 Gold Chaser (ML 4-1)

B's

# 6 Gotham Sky (ML 3-1)
# 8 Himalaya Star (ML 8-1)

C's

# 7 All That Rocks (ML 8-1)
# 9 Papa G (ML 8-1)

Scratch 5 Rideo (ML 6-1) and # 10 Off the Deep End (ML 15-1)

This contest is restricted to runners which have either:

1) Not won a race since February 1, 2017; OR
2) Which have never won four races.

So as long as a horse has fewer than four career Wins, he's eligible to run in this race.  If a horse has four career Wins or more, than none of those Wins could have come in the past two months (note that Claiming and Starter Races for $3.5k or less don't count when computing the Win totals).  For the record, # 4 Mark Ye Well (ML 8-1) and Papa G are the only two runners in this field with fewer than four career Wins.

Gold Chaser, trained by John Martin, drops another rung on the class ladder, after failing as the Post Time Favorite last time out against more expensive stock.  Gold Chaser figures to be the one running best late, so the concern is that he may get trapped on the rail.

Gotham Sky, trained by Jonathan Wong, is another class dropper that could do well here.  Himalaya Star took the Show at this approximate class level (cheaper claiming price but no conditions) last time out.

All That Rocks returns from an extended vacation for Trainer Jack Steiner, who tends to do well with such.  Papa G took the Show at this class level last time out.

RACE 8 - (F) OC 40k/N1X - Eight Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 8 Simmy's Temple (ML 5-2)

B’s

# 4 Shari (ML 7-2)

C's

# 3 Lazzarella (ML 5-1)
# 6 Tiz Deliteful (ML 9-2)

Simmy's Temple won at this class level two starts back.  Shari took the Place at this class level while disappointing as the Post Time Favorite last time out.  Lazzarella made a nice move forward last time out in her first try around two turns.  Tiz Deliteful fits well at this level, but seems to settle for too many minor awards.

RACE 9 - Clm $4k N2L - Six Furlongs Synthetic

A’s

# 7 Semper Gumby (ML 4-1)

B’s

# 3 My Son John (ML 9-5)
# 4 Alamo Pintado (ML 10-1)
# 6 Pacific Channel (ML 5-2)

C's

# 5 Outlook (ML 9-2)

Semper Gumby took the Place (after one ahead of him was DQ'd) against more expensive last time out.  My Son John, trained by John Martin, took the Show at this class level two starts back.  Alamo Pintado was a length behind Semper Gumby at the wire last time out after being steadied early.

Pacific Channel, another trained by John Martin, returns from an extended vacation, and has been working well leading into this contest.  Outlook took the Place at this class level last time out.

OK, that's the analysis.  While this is a jackpot wager, we won't be putting all our selections on one ticket.  While we still hold out hope that this could be the luckiest day of our lives, budgetary constraints must be respected.  I think it's also safe to presume that our "A" Selections won't form the basis of a unique ticket, so we should be safe in pressing those up.  So with all that, playing our tickets in Crist fashion, we get:

All A Entries

$1.00 P6: 3 with 7 with 2,4 with 1 with 8 with 7 $2.00

All A Entries with All B Entries

$0.20 P6: 3 with 3,4,7 with 2,4,5 with 1,6,8 with 4,8 with 3,4,6,7 $43.20

A's with One C

$0.20 P6: 4,6 with 7 with 2,4 with 1 with 8 with 7 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3 with 6 with 2,4 with 1 with 8 with 7 $0.40
$0.20 P6: 3 with 7 with 2,4 with 7,9 with 8 with 7 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3 with 7 with 2,4 with 1 with 3,6 with 7 $0.80
$0.20 P6: 3 with 7 with 2,4 with 1 with 8 with 5 $0.40

Total: $48.40

Post Time for Race 4 is 5:15 EDT / 2:15 PDT.  Good luck to all.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
