Bold Papa finally got the job done in his thirteenth try, crossing under the wire more than three lengths in front of Place finisher # 8 Save Ground (3.70) to win Race 6. My initial inclination when preparing my tickets was to relegate Bold Papa to a backup role, since he had failed to graduate in so many prior attempts under similar conditions. But ultimately I decided to use Bold Papa on the big ticket; a decision that was proven correct. Unfortunately, in order to stay within budget, when I moved Bold Papa onto the big ticket, I moved Plein Air in the nightcap off the big ticket.
Oh well; onto the next race.
For the record, here are the $0.50 Will Pays for the three runners to which I would have cashed in the finale:
