6/4/16 Santa Anita Late Pick Four - Results

Race 8 - # 1 Reflected Star (Final Odds 7.60) - "A" Selection
Race 9 - # 8 Horse Greedy (4.90) - "B" Selection
Race 10 - # 8 Ike Walker (7.40) - No Selection
Race 11 - # 12 Skelton Pass (24.00) - No Selection

We had "B" Selections take the Place in each of the final two races: # 2 Fusaichi Samurai (2.70) in Race 10; # 2 Film Freak (3.80) in Race 11.  And while I could have made a case for the Doug O'Neill trained Ike Walker, there was no way that I was going to find Skelton Pass without hitting the "ALL" button.

Skelton Pass had lost ground in the stretch in three of his four prior career races against winners, all dirt sprints, and was now trying two turns for the first time.  Skelton Pass was also trying grass for the first time.  As Skelton Pass was sired by a stallion whose progeny succeeded fewer than six percent of the time in their turf debuts, and was conditioned by a trainer whose runners won approximately eight percent of their first tries on the grass, I did not consider Skelton Pass a candidate to improve with the surface switch.  I was proven wrong.

Oh well; onto the next race.

Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of  1 / 8 / 8 / 12  were rewarded with a payout of $3,049.60 for their fifty cent wager.  May God bless them as they spend their winnings.

Peace and Love,

Jimbo
