There was a reaffirmation of certain fundamental handicapping angles on display Saturday, as She's Not Here showed once again that a prior winner of a Graded Stakes is not to be underestimated in a renewal of the same event, regardless of what there recent form may show; while Third Brigade demonstrated why runners dropping in for a tag for the first time must always be respected. As regards our play, we were wise enough to leave Morning Line and Post Time Favorite # 6 Bundesliga (3.00*) off our tickets in the finale; but our failure to catch either winner of the two maiden races in the sequence doomed us to failure, and made Saturday a day for us to contribute instead of collect.
Oh well; onto the next race.
Meanwhile, those who had the correct Pick Four sequence of 12 / 5 / 8 / 7 were rewarded with a payout of $1,136.60 for their fifty cent wager. May God bless them as they spend their winnings.
